    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The insight week was very eye opening and introduced me to the different technologies and techniques that are being used within the financial sector. I hadn't previously considered FinTech as a career for me, but now I'm looking at FinTech internships to try and get some hands on experience. Very helpful!

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Barclays put a lot of time and effort into providing good quality training from IDG, an external provider, on teamwork. They also had their staff come and give talks on various areas of the business, and their grads let us work shadow them. The insight week was very well prepared and we felt valued.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Rachel and Anne Marie were present throughout the whole week to answer any questions, no matter what they were. The staff during the networking and work shadowing were also very keen to answer questions, and we were even presented with a panel to ask as many questions as we could

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learnt a lot about up and coming technologies, which will assist me with my degree, but also I learnt so much about teamwork and good workplace etiquette. I also learnt about personal brand and interview technique, all of which will be very useful during my degree and when applying for jobs

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • As said above, the work insight was really well structured. The days were all well planned to allow for lots of different activities and we stuck to the schedule relatively well. The good organisation meant that we could have lots of speakers in one day, along with work shadowing, networking and team building.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Everyone was so lovely and the atmosphere was really great. I met lots of great friends and people that I'd like to keep on touch with after the event. The atmosphere was actually the best part of the insight week, and we are all so sad to see it end

  • 5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • We had speakers who came and explained each area of the business so we knew and understood more about what Barclays did. We also had plenty of opportunities to network and chat with people who worked at Barclays, including senior staff and recent grads. We had lots of opportunities to work shadow too.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • We spoke lots about the values of Barclays and how they try to implement each one in their business. We also talked a lot about how staff uphold these values and why they're important to Barclays as a business. This was a really useful insight into the culture

  • I was paid a stipend plus reimbursed for travel

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were so many opportunities for networking, both with senior staff, and recent graduates. This was one of the best parts of the week as we had so many opportunities to ask any questions and it was great to get a balanced insight into what different people's experience was of working there
