About You
It was a very enjoyable programme. You get to spend the week learning about the industry and meeting really intelligent like-minded people. There wasn't too much pressure put on you during the event, so I would say it was a very positive and educational experience. Quite a few of the talks are interactive.
They clearly spend a lot of time and money making the week great. We spent the 1st half of the week in a nice hotel during the day and the 2nd half in Barclays HQ. They made you feel valued as the interview process recognises that you have already shown an interest in Barclays.
We had an interview and cv training during the spring. I especially liked that HR offered to check our CVs prior to our interview. They were very supportive and offered guidance wherever possible. Also, the people who we shadowed gave lots of advice as to what we could do next.
The Company
There was an app, where you could see the days full agenda and interact with HR. It was a very smooth event seeing as we were moving between a couple of buildings in Canary Wharf.
Great atmosphere, very relaxed and welcoming. The people are great and the Barclay's staff are great. Everyone who spoke to us in networkig sessions was really friendly and willing to help.
The content was very valuable as every session had a Q&A session where you could ask questions and connect with Barclays employees. The most valuable part was the work shadowing. We had two shadowing sessions, one with a developer and one with a Business Analyst. This gave great insight into future careers. We also shadowed in pairs which meant we could ask more questions and be more confident.
Everything Else
They give you a set amount of expenses approx £250 in London. They also pay for people's accommodation if they don't live in London. They also paid for a return ticket from university for me. Compared to many springs where you don't get any expenses apart from the tube, this was really good.
Yes they held a networking drinks reception on the top floor. They invited lots of grads, ex-springs and senior managers. They ask held a speed networking session where we spoke to senior managers in groups.
Not really any formal socials, but I didn't think this affected the week.
Barclays have a great gym, lots of clubs etc.
