About You
It was very enjoyable, intense and insightful. This allowed all of us to learn intensively about the investment bank as well as about which division we would best fit in. I found the case studies, and networking very enjoyable, along will all of the attention that Barclays has given in organising this spring week.
Barclays really value their interns. We could easily tell that they wanted us to suceed and to learn as much as possible. Everybody is very welcoming and will answer as many questions as you may have, which is a very nice feature for a first experience in the financial industry.
We were constantly supported by Barclays member throughout the activities/ task. We'd be put in smaller groups during the case study which would allow to understand in much more depth the materials presented which is really useful. The recruitment team was always here with us supporting us and providing support whenever needed.
As it is completely investment bank based, I do not believe that it will help me in my studies as I am not studying finance. However this was not the goal, and it gives you an entire career to look forward to, along with the value of hard-work that is necessary.
The Company
It was perfectly structured minute by minute to give us as broad of an insight as possible.
Very good and supportive
They invest a lot in each of the interns and genuinely care about them. We've had training from highly experienced seniors in the company, as well as external professionals. All of the sessions were very targeted and perfectly insightful. They allow you to understand more about the bank as well through networking events.
The spring week really help to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm. There was presentation of panel of analyst as well as talks from people from multiple division explaining their career at Barclays. There was a lot of networking opportunities encouraging you to learn as much as possible.
The company's culture is really strong at Barclays around its main values. Through opportunities for networking, the insight helped a lot to see how this culture is embodied within each of the people working at Barclays. They all praise a very collegiate environment, as well as a strong and enjoyable culture.
The insight was separated between days of each division. The first day is more general, focused more on the company's culture, some new divisions ( we had a talk about green finance), as well as personality type. The two days after were more specific, one about banking and one about market.

There was plenty of networking opportunities. The first day finished by a 2 hrs networking session with people from all rank and division. Following that, the lunch on Tuesday and Wednesday are "Networking lunch" were you get to meet people working at Barclays from both the market and banking divisions.

We do get to find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work on the first day and through networking. There is a multitude of group for more inclusion ( gender, cultural, sexuality). In addition, employees mention often doing activities as a team outside of work.
I would definitly recommend this insight. It gives you a really good insight as to wether or not you would be a good fit in the company. In addition, through networking and case studies, you get to figure out in which divisions you would best fit in which is extremely useful for your future career.
