About You
I thought that the day was planned out well however the trading exercise that they conducted didn't really seem of much benefit, mainly because it wasn't trading as such and actually more focused on an analyst side. The event was very good for networking opportunities and the speakers were good.
I felt very valued during my time there and all the staff that I met were willing to help should I have any problems with my experience. The speakers were keen to help and provide as much information as they could in their allocated time slot which really helped out.
The guidance and support received has been excellent. There were numerous emails sent out before hand that detailed what I could expect during the event and there were detailed instructions on how to find the building and recommended travel routes. I felt supported whilst on the insight event as well should any problems arise.
The skills I have learnt on the day will definitely help me in the future as I now have a much better idea of how to apply to this firm, as well as what to expect should I be lucky enough to be offered a job here. The information provided was very useful
The Company
As mentioned in a previous comment, M&G sent out a running of events before the day and they kept to this very well. The day was well structured and there were frequent breaks that gave us chances to meet other students as well as business professionals which I really enjoyed.
I thought that the general atmosphere of the event was very good and it really stood out to me that all of the staff were eager to help and share what knowledge they could with the students. It really made me feel welcome and want to return perhaps in the future. As the event was fully booked, it did at times feel a little bit crowded but this was expected and wasn't much of an issue.
The company did the best that they could in the one day slot that we had. They helped to provide insights into the application process should we want a career there, whilst also showing us the possibilities of the different roles that we could undertake. They invested a lot of time in us
I feel very comfortable with the knowledge I have obtained that if I was to apply here then there would be no surprises should I be accepted. The staff were very eager to share the company's culture and to prove to us what sets them apart from others and why so many of the staff have worked there for a long time.
As mentioned in a previous comment, the staff were very eager to share their company culture and this was very evident in how the whole day ran as well. Everyone (even the cleaners as well) were very welcoming and asking if there was anything they could do to help or give information.
The content was very valuable and I feel for my future career choices then it will be very useful. It gave a broad range of the different possibilities that M&G could provide me with and I would feel very comfortable if I was to apply here. They provided good support in deciding potential career paths.
Everything Else
It would be nice to reimbursed my train fair HOWEVER I do not expect M&G to purely because of the sheer number of students that attended and I feel that this would be unfair on the firm. I wanted to attend the event so at the end of the day why should they pay me? It wouldn't make sense to I don't think.
There were many opportunities to meet other students and staff for networking and many students took full advantage of it, myself included. I really liked how they promoted this as it allowed us to meet many different people and to build connections I otherwise would have missed out on. A definite positive of this event.
The networking and social opportunities that M&G provided were very good and there were many chances to network. I would say, however, that due to the large volume of students that attended, it did often get crowded whilst trying to network so perhaps in future more employees could be an option?
Unfortunately I wasn't really told about the activities that employees can explore outside of work and I wish I had found out more about this. Some graduates did mention some small things that they do however I am unaware of the whole scheme of things and would have loved to find out more
I would definitely recommend this insight event to a friend as it was very productive for me. I got the chance to network with many different people, talk to others, find out crucial information, and more whilst having a fun day doing something that I haven't really experience before at all.
