The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement and found that it was an excellent insight into consultancy. Due to the excellent support from the partner who I worked for, I was able to work on a wide variety of interesting projects.
The partner and director I worked for made me feel valued. They bought me a gift at the end of my internship, wrote me excellent and helpful feedback and told me how much they valued me.
Towards the end of my internship, I was very busy with work. I was given several projects during my internship. I have learnt that it is better to say no to work if there is too much to do.
On one of my projects, I was given the task to manage the event organisation. I reported directly to the director so felt like I had a lot of responsibility. It was good to know that I could be trusted with such work.
The Company
The general atmosphere was very friendly. I regularly had conversation with colleagues about things other than work.
It was organised quite well in the middle. However, I think the organisation at the begining and end could have been better. Consulting interns spent one day at a residential training centre and then returned to London. It didn't seem worth the trip for a single night. At the end of the internship, it wasn't clear how much work we were expected to do and how we should handover to the next interns. The recruitment team could have been more helpful in aiding the handovers/
The partner I worked for is involved in coaching so would offer some helpful advice. The firm's online training website had many interesting and helpful tutorials that were available to interns.

I was offered a graduate job at the end of my internship. Most other interns were offered jobs. People who wanted to change service line were given the opportunity to interview in a different service line.
The Culture
One of the interns self-appointed himself as social sec so several events were organised. They were more suited to a particular crowd but it was nice to have a social event to go to with fellow colleagues.
It was quite expensive in some of the bars.
A few opportunites were advertised on the weekly consulting emails. I emailed to join one of the socities but did not receive a reply.
