    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I quite enjoyed the M&G Prudential Insight Day as it was a very eye-opening experience in terms of what it taught me about the sector in which they operated. Overall, it was a great way to meet like-minded individuals from other universities as well as industry professionals who were able to shed light on their own experiences.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt like I was adequately valued during the Insight Day, however I was not particularly valued any more than any other of the Insight Day attendees. On the other hand, having heard from recent graduates and other current employees at M&G, I believe that it is a great environment to work in, and that they feel valued by M&G as it is smaller than some of their main rivals within the industry.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • During a networking session, many of the M&G employees offered very useful advice in terms of their own career paths after graduating which I felt applied to me. Furthermore, we were also given guidance on how to approach the M&G Prudential application process and ensure that we were successful which I found incredibly helpful.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • A lot of the information I received at the M&G Prudential Insight Day was very pertinent to my degree (which is BSc Economics). We were also given a hands on approach to some of the work carried out by M&G Prudential in the form of trading exercises throughout the day.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The M&G Prudential Insight Day was very well structured. I was sent multiple emails prior to the day itself detailing the schedule for the day, which also included directions to their offices as well as contact details in case they were needed. The day ran on a very tight schedule but at no point did I feel that any part of it had been rushed.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The general atmosphere at the M&G Prudential Insight Day was at first somewhat strange, as it obviously would be in an environment where no one knows anyone else. However, I quickly found it easy to approach other Insight Day attendees, as well as M&G employees themselves, who overall seemed ready to answer any questions I had. The trading activities I participated in were as part of a team which helped ease the initial awkwardness.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I felt as though the company did invest a fair amount into me, in the form of speaking to professionals and hearing about their experiences. At the same time, I also believe that I have a definite advantage over other applicants to M&G in the future who had not attended the M&G Prudential Insight Day due to the information I received about the company.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Throughout the duration of the M&G Prudential Insight Day, I was able to hear multiple current employees speak about their current roles within the company which gave me a good overview of what a full time role with the company. Considering it was only a day long, I felt as though I was provided with a decent insight into a long-term position.

    4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Some of the employees mentioned schemes or clubs they were a part of within the organisation itself, which gave the impression of a work environment in which employees had the time to pursue other interests outside of work. We were also told how the company did not necessarily enforce strict rules about working within the office, and locations were somewhat more flexible.

    3/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The content of the M&G Prudential Insight Day was very useful as it provided an overview of all the possible roles within M&G Prudential. I feel like some of them really appealed to me, and that it is likely that I will pursue these roles in the future (if not at M&G Prudential).

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was not paid or reimbursed expenses for the M&G Prudential Insight Day.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Considering that I attended an Insight Day, the company held a networking event lasting the duration of over an hour in which I was able to meet some of the current M&G Prudential employees. At the end of the day, there was also a panel of current employees in which they explained their roles and lives at M&G.

    4/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The networking events were of an adequate quality but at times I felt as though some of the employees were not engaging enough or enthusiastic enough regarding their roles at M&G Prudential. In terms of other attendees at the M&G Prudential Insight Day, I found it easy to talk to them and some of us have remained in touch.

    3/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Some of the employees mentioned some of the charity work they carried out within M&G Prudential as well as a few clubs that were present within the organisation, but apart from this there was no real mention about the other activities that other employees can get involved in outside of work.

    3/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would definitely recommend the M&G Prudential Insight Day to a friend as it not only gives a very strong overview about the work carried out by M&G Prudential, but also about the roles available within the company, as well as further information about the industry and sector in which they operate.
