    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I enjoyed the insight day for the majority of my time, the trading exercise which ran throughout the day was fun and gave a little experience of the role of an analyst and the importance of teamwork. In addition, the speed networking lunch and the graduate panel was very useful in getting honest opinions on the company and learning about the application process

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Whilst there were a large number of individuals present at the insight day, the splitting into groups and large number of current employees during the speed networking meant it wasn't hard to find someone to talk to and answer your question. However, at the end of the day it seemed as if everyone had disappeared, meaning it was hard to get specific questions answered - although most had been answered already throughout the day.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • The trading exercise was a good way to have some form of a slightly more independent exercise in a team environment whilst learning about the roles in the company. The speed networking and talking to the graduate panel was the most useful in guiding you through the application process and giving helpful tips.

    4/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Slightly less relevant on this one day insight day, more useful for gaining a fundamental understanding into the roles within the asset management company and the work the M&G Prudential does. It will be helpful as it means that I now have a greater understanding of the skills needed for the internship application and the format of the interview.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Very well structured, whilst the insight schemes was just a day and therefore very packed with content, the timetable was (mainly) kept to schedule and meant that no useful content was missed. The trading exercise was well structured but a bit rushed towards the end in order to provide time for the other activities.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Really enjoyed the insight day, it was a good atmosphere overall with everyone being approachable and friendly to talk to int he networking lunch. Was nice to see how the firm valued its employees (from all backgrounds) and hearing about the emphasis played upon work-life balance from current employees was encouraging

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Not relevant single day insight

    3/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Adequate, but there could have been some more information. While the business talks were useful, they focused more about the role of M&G as a company itself and the roles of very high up individuals and the graduate panel was more focused on questions, so there was little opportunity to discuss the actual day to day jobs of those with less experience in the company

    3/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Was extremely helpful, from just seeing how happy all the employees were with the company, to the graduate panel discussing the number of vacation days and the ability to work from home - a company not based upon the need for 'facetime'. Encouraging to see and confirmed by the speed networking lunch talking to employees

    4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Overall useful, even though it was just a single day and there was no hands on experience of the actual job that those at M&G Prudential get upto. The trading exercise was helpful in allowing us to work in a team environment and I enjoyed the talks meaning that in the future I am planning on applying for an internship with the company.

    4/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • No reimbursement for travel

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Yes, speed networking lunch allowed us to talk to lots of employees, at different levels within the company. Was useful to talk to the recent graduate scheme successful applicants about the application process and to talk to a wider variety of people from technology to investment banking. Further to this the graduate panel was very easy to ask questions in.

    4/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Speed networking lunch

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Not much time to discuss

    1/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Yes, overall I would advise my friends to attend the insight day. It overall was a positive experience and as it is only a day it wasn't too large a commitment either. By getting a better insight into M&G Prudential and also the world of asset management and finance it has really helped me to cement my plans to apply for internships next year.
