About You
Unilever made me feel so welcomed into the company, despite the shortness of the programme. They got us stuck in with different challenges, including a session in the food solutions department and free Ben and Jerry’s!
During the time I’ve had with Unilever, they ensured we felt comfortable in our roles and provided us with a lovely 4 star hotel and food. We had 2 main mentors across 20 of us, but we also got to interact with placement students, graduates, and even senior member staff of departments.
As mentioned, we had 2 main mentors who were really approachable and helpful, both before and during the Spring Programme. Networking with current employees also provided a great insight into the company.
Although the Spring Programme is short, I got to hear a lot of personal stories of how employees connect with their customers and successfully carry out this business. A lot of responsibility is given at Unilever, along with a great amount of support.
The Company
During the Spring Programme, we had 2 busy days, with a good and clear structure. We was given the ‘timetable’ prior to the event so we knew what to expect. Everything ran smoothly. We have been kept busy however it has not been hectic in the slightest.
The culture at Unilever is known the caring and fun, but it was great to experience the actual culture in the Leatherhead Office. It is a flexible working environment with a good support system, as has been shown throughout the whole experience.
We got a great overview of the company and was informed about training within a full time role at Unilever.
As we got to speak to placement students, graduates, and also people who’ve been in the company for more than 20 years we got a clear insight into progression and responsibility in the company at all stages.
I had the opportunity to see the experience first hand at the office, and also at networking events talking to employees.
Unilever gave us an insight into all the different categories and we got informered about the flexibility and opportunities for careers here.
Everything Else
They paid for all our food and accommodation, and allowed up to £50 in travel expenses.
We got to meet a range of people from different departments doing different roles.
Over the 2 nights we had 2 networking events, to get to know each other and current Unilever employees who were in the same place as us. They provided wine and food.
At Unilever, there is a lot of social perks such as sports teams, an on sight gym, free ice cream, an on sight hair salon, and I’ve also been told the Christmas party was a lot of fun!
Yes, the spring programme is a great start to a career at Unilever.
