The Role
This has not only been an enjoyable placement for me, I have learnt so much in this such space and evolved with interesting ideas for future projects I will be embarking on. I did not realize how much of 'the world out there' was yet unknown to me until this placement.
They say I am a good communicator but I tell them they are incredible listeners who are interested in letting others shine. I felt enormous value whenever I was given the chance to speak with the way every one listen with rapt attention and especially when my ideas were taken on board
One of the highlights of my placement year I that fact that I got to do it with skilled and experienced colleagues/supervisors who were devoted to their job and to helping team mates deliver exceptionally. For every step of the way, I had support when it was required
My job deliverables are quite hands on, juggling between a host of things including event management/planning, communication and marketing. Worthy of note is that different task required different expertise and platforms for their rendition. Therefore, daily I had to manage a range of interesting schedules using different channels. I could not have been busier. Thankfully though, there was a balance.
One of the most interesting aspect of my placement was helping to start up a new team which meant that responsibility were enormous and could easily be measured. Start ups are notorious for the amount of work required to be put in before smooth sailing which is what I was privileged to be a part of. Jump start a non-existence team and get it running. Not only that, ensure it is flying and producing results!
Skills developed or required in the field of Media and Communication are such that are not only transferable to the same field/career but also relevant for in other fields. Over the cause of my placement I have developed and honed several skills that are salient to my field and important even in mundane interactions. Therefore the skills I have acquired transcends my studies and would be relevantly deployed for a lifetime.
The Company
There was a balance in that tiny cubicle I would now miss. We had moments of interesting banter and hours of dedicated work-focus. The interlude of banter made every task more interesting and bearable. The atmosphere in my opinion fostered productivity.
I believe it was well thought through. Considerations should be given for contingencies however. But again, the project and team were new so expectedly, there would be teething issues. Thankfully, we kept nipping them in the bud as they arose.
The council is very open and ready to invest in their staff. You as an individual could decide how much training your wanted. There was arguably no restriction to training requests provided it is relevant to your job. I was privileged to attend one that was not even relevant to my job but I thought I would need for life

More interesting roles are emerging and honestly, if I could I would be applying for them however, you have to seek them out yourself.
The Culture
Ah! A better than good social scene... This is one of the things I would miss about the placement. There must have definitely been an unwritten rule to make a good social scene!
It is a bit pricey and the placement could not have met with the expenditure demands however what was lacked in terms of remuneration was compensated for in experience
Oh, Bournemouth has the nightlife! Absolutely fantastic!
There were quite a number of opportunities. There were work events and socializing events that we made happen. These are some of the memories I will take with me
