About You
I enjoyed all the sessions, the presentations about the different transaction cycles were very interesting and interactive, they were not dry at all. The project we have to do is also fun and engaging, I find it great that we have to work in teams rather than doing the presentations individually.
I didn't feel like "just an intern" at all, we were very much included in the conversations and treated as partners. Everyone was happy to answer our questions and they were very patient with us. I really felt like Barclays invested a lot in me and the other interns, in terms of money, time and resources as well.
Just as much as I wanted or needed. Everyone was eager to help and answer any questions I had. If I needed extra information on something that they couldn't provide immediately, they made sure to get back to me as soon as they found out the answer. But they also made sure to leave some room for me to learn things by myself, which I'm very grateful for.
They are definitely skills for life. I came here to learn more about Barclays and the Operations division, which I did, but I also learned a lot about myself (thanks to IDG). The things I learned about operations were very useful, I definitely understand more of the processes now. I developed some skills in teamwork and public speaking.
The Company
The structure was good, it was very balanced, in terms of presentations and project working time. The breaks were scheduled at the right times of the day, and the sessions about the TCs were well structured and interactive as well. The fact that we have work-shadowing on Thursday is great, cause by then we already know more about the TCs.
The general atmosphere was very friendly and welcoming. I felt included in all the activities, even the "competitive" parts were a lot of fun. Everyone was very motivated and eager to learn, which was very helpful in terms of being productive with the project and learning a lot about Barclays. I think the Barclays values were very well represented.
They had IDG come to us which was surprising but a great experience. It was clear how they invested a lot of time and money in us.
There was a lot of emphasis on the Barclays values and all the employees I talked to were committed to it.
The TC sessions were very helpful to me, it made it easier to decide whether I want to, and if yes where I want to work in the future.
Everything Else
I honestly didn't expect to get paid or reimbursed for this program, but I am extremely grateful that we are getting some money from this. It covers my expenses for the week and we even get free food.
I would have liked some more time with the TC session speakers.
