About You
I really enjoyed gaining an actual insight into the processes of banking. This put a face and knowledge to a lot of concepts I had only heard about.
I felt extremely valued at Barclays. There was always a lot of emphasis on what the company can do for us, not what we can do for it.
We received an adequate amount of guidance. I would have liked to have seen more ops workers at the networking event
I feel that what I have learnt will be taken into my career. The emphasis on the fit of the company that Barclays exclaimed will be something I always have in mind now.
The Company
It was very well structured, given the size of the cohort. Obviously there were times of waiting and where technology failures left us changing plans but this was met well
I enjoyed learning about the processes and met some really great people. I found it very tiring constantly listening to people's experiences (despite them being inherently interesting). I feel they could improve with more interactive sessions, given the sheer number of hours sitting we spent
I was given talks by operators within their system. There were always good opportunities to ask questions to senior members regarding their roles too. Also the interactive session they ran was useful, and the shadowing process was important too.
It gave a useful idea of the environment, but not specifically what role I would have.
A good insight to the company culture was given, but as with most large corporations it's difficult to understand until you arrive at the company
Fairly useful, it was difficult to understand what role I would gave in Barclays, and this affected the question at hand.
Everything Else
They were generous in their pay and me being reimbursed for travel and given lunch expenses.
Yes. There was one networking opportunity but with the shadowing too one was able to meet other employees within Barclays.
They were interesting, yet there were not enough employees given the number of people in the cohort. Though, Barclays did try to make it an enjoyable experience.
Not really. We did learn about 'off the desk work' - which I thought was useful
Yes. Overall I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here, learning and expanding my skills at Barclays. I think specifically ti the company the culture they induce is encouraging, in feeling like a valued worker I certainly have a changed perspective of the industry as a whole. This feels true when comparing Barclays to its counterparts in the industry.
