    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I enjoyed getting to know the ins and outs of different transaction cycles in Barclays, although I feel that perhaps going to see some of the departments and having the talks there may have been more useful in exposing us to the process.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt like not only my colleagues but the employees who came to share their knowledge and took us under their wing saw us as worthwhile individuals rather than a nuisance in their day. This was enhanced with their passionate talks and answers to our many questions.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I received guidance from the transaction cycle leaders and other members of staff, however, support was more self brought.

    3/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • It will be instrumental in shaping my choices for the next two years of university as well as during holidays. If I receive an internship it will be a huge advantage, particularly during a very competitive time.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was well structured in regards to the layout of the day, however, I would have made lunch a little later and allowed more question time for each insight talk.

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The insight felt open to discussion and allowed each person to ask the questions they wanted to, not only to do with the talks given, but regarding other aspects of the entire Barclays institution.

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The insight provided definitely aided my knowledge with respect to the different roles within the institution and made my preferences of departments much clearer. I feel as if a greater level could have been applied to the specifics of various departmental roles and required skills or knowledge post university.

    3/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • I believe that whilst the knowledge we gained provided us a general overview, it would have been useful to be exposed to the various departments and sitting in on their operations.

    3/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The emphasis placed on the Barclays values provided a starting point to understanding the expectations that Barclays have of their employees. This was solidified by the talks given as the values were evident in each employee and the manner in which they treated us, their team, and the manner in which they approached their work.

    4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The information provided allowed me to know which elements of the business I am not interested in more so than which I would like to pursue further. However, it also made it clear that I should explore as many aspect of the busniess as possible to make a more informed decision after university.

    3/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was not reimbursed travel expenses as I did not have to take any long journeys. However, I feel that due to the volume of journeys I have had to make I should have been reimbursed to some extent.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • We were given one night to network to our own will with various employees, however I feel that it would have been useful to receive the contact information of employees which gave insight talks.

    3/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • They made it comfortable to speak to any member of staff present; however, it was difficult to ask all the questions you wanted due to the large number of interns present

    3/5

  • We mainly focused on the in work aspect of the employees lives.
