About You
I thoroughly enjoyed the insight into Barclays! My favourite part of the week was getting an insight into my chosen functions through work-shadowing and also getting talks from the senior individuals from the different functions.
The various programmes that were organised for the spring interns during the insight week showed just how much they valued us and our time. This included insight sessions, work-shadowing and panel discussions. We were constantly asked to comment our thoughts on the various activities.
A lot! The HR team were amazing at ensuring we had sufficient guidance and support throughout the spring insight week. I really appreciated the use of an events app to ensure we knew the agenda and could ask the HR team questions through the app.
To an extent, the skills I developed will definitely assist in my degree studies but even more so beyond my degree. I developed my networking skills, how to work efficiently to a tight deadline as a team especially one that I just met.
The Company
Very well structured! The agenda was well set out and we were on schedule most of the time.
The atmosphere was excellent! The values of Barclays really stood out through the way people spoke and acted towards each other. The other interns and employees in Barclays were very friendly and welcoming! Everyone was respectful, acted with integrity; we were served well and were taken care of.
The company really invested in us; they gave us a range of programmes to take part in everyday including insight sessions into the functions, work-shadowing our chosen functions and a teamwork and leadership session.
We had extremely insightful work-shadowing sessions and on the final day we had an interview for a summer internship.
The company's culture shone through via everyone we spoke to.
The content was very valuable in helping me decide on my future career path. The graduates and senior employees created PowerPoints and graphs to give us a deep insight into their roles. This helped me know for sure which functions I liked best and which ones I would like to intern and potentially do a grad scheme in.
Everything Else
We were paid at the end of the week and our travel expenses were reimbursed.
Yes we had a networking session with the employees of Barclays. We were able to go round and talk to the different functions to get a insight into their specific roles.
They were really interesting and insightful. We not only got to network with the employees but we had lots of opportunity to network with the interns.
Yes I did. They get to take part in charity work and Friday evening socials
I would highly recommend an insight at Barclays to a friend. The culture is great!
