About You
The spring week for Group Function was amazing for me. I would regret so much if I did not apply for it. The free accommodation and insight programme was all amazing. The employee I met was friendly and gave me very good advice. The insight sections really helped you to understand different divisions within the Group Function and Barclays culture. It was informal and not stressful. Really enjoyed.
I felt I was highly valued during this programme. There were senior insight sections for each of the seven division within the Group Function, from treasury to HR. There were two networking events that you could chat with graduates and employees. I was so lucky to chat with Treasury Managing Director for almost half hour. It was really a great opportunity to meet this senior people and asked them questions. I really built up my confidence and knowledge by chatting with them. You may not have the same opportunity to meet these senior people in other banks.
I was supported since I got the offer. I made quite a lot of mistakes during the preparation before the insight actually started, but the campus recruiter were really helpful. They actually advised me to come on Sunday when I booked a really early Monday train ticket. They were happy to help me any questions I had. We had an app to ask questions during our insight week as well. Just ask questions, it will also be easier for them before you make mistakes like me.
It really made me more confident to talk with employees after work shadowing and networking. It also gave me guidance on my career route and future interview tips. You really know much more about different things about the seven divisions and Barclays. But I don't think there is any information that helped me in my degree studies. However, this is understandable.
The Company
I would say great for the insight sections, but we had to choose the division we wanted to go for interview for summer internship before work shadowing and networking. This can be hard to make choices before knowing more about the divisions I like. However, the senior and graduate insight sections were good and informative.
Welcoming and friendly. I did not feel any pressure except for my interviews. No competitive pressure within spring internship. I felt I was welcomed and valued.
Everything Else
Reimbursed on my train and free breakfast and lunch on first three days. £7.5 allowance for last two days. £250 would be paid in the end of the spring week to reimburse the living cost in the week. Free accommodation in Marlin Apartment in Stratford which was great. You could go shopping in Westfield and have dinner there.
Seven senior insight sessions where the managing directors from different divisions talked to you about their career paths and divisions they worked in. Two senior panels. Seven graduate insight sessions and two networking events. You can ask questions in all of them. Barclays really try to expose us to this environment to build our network and improve our networking skill.
Great. I really learned a lot from different employees. All employees are friendly and really helpful. They are willing to discuss different questions you have. You might not be able to meet so many senior people in other banks. Really appreciate. Your can meet employee from different divisions and ask more about their roles.
Of course. Really a great opportunity to know about bank and Barclays. Know more about career plan.
