About You
The programme was amazing because I got to learn about finance on the first day, which gives a really nice start given lots of people do not necessarily have a finance background. Then we got to meet both junior and senior bankers and speak to them about their experience here. The shadowing gave a nice taste of what it is like to be a banker at Deutsche Bank.
The bankers I spoke to were very nice and helpful. I don’t have a finance background and the people I shadowed were really willing to teach me which I feel really grateful for. They were very encouraging and assured me a lot that what matters is the willingness and ability to learn at Deutsche Bank.
I would say the support I received was a lot. Everyone I met was so helpful and so welcoming. I asked a lot of questions and was given very detailed and helpful answers which helped a lot. Although some of them were very busy, they still managed to find some time to answer my questions. I am really thankful about that.
The people I shadowed showed me some modelings they did and some of the pitch books they put together. I learned about the ideas and methods behind what they do. I think the most precious skill I learned through this experience is the focus on details which matter a lot in their work.
The Company
It was very structured because we started off with some general training sessions. They were mainly on presentation skills, financial knowledge and information about Deutsche Bank. Then we did desk shadowing. The desk shadowing was the most fun part because I got to see what people in different divisions do.
I think Deutsche Bank has a very special culture because the diversity was really good. Since it is a global bank, I got to talk to people from different nationalities, so the atmosphere was very friendly welcoming and inclusive. I was amazed by how people from different cultures get to form such a welcoming family here.
I would say this programme has helped a lot. Before I did this programme, I had little knowledge about what it is like to be a banker, but given the networking sessions and shadowing opportunities in this programme, I have learned the hours, the roles, and the lifestyle of a banker at Deutsche Bank.
It has helped a lot because we really got the opportunity to fully experience what it is like to be a banker here at Desutsche Bank. Again, through the networking sessions and talking to people who work here, I gained quite a thorough understanding of the culture of Deutsche Bank.
It was really valuable. Before I came to do this programme, I was open about whether I actually want to be a banker. But having done the programme, I got to understand what bankers in different divisions do. Not only did this help me figure out that I really like work in financial services, but also it helped me decide which division I am more interested in.
Everything Else
They were truly great. I think they were great for a couple of reasons. First, lots of bankers, both junior and senior, came to the networking sessions. Second, the people were really nice and helpful. They were very genuine and welcoming as well. Third, the arrangement was very nice in the sense that the networking was before shadowing so we already have some rough idea of different divisions in the bank before we go to desks and shadow.
I totally would recommend. I learned about financial knowledge in general and I also learned about more specific knowledge within different divisions as well. On the other hand, this programme has helped me make decisions about whether I really want to have a career in financial services. I think it was really amazing.
