About You
The programme exceeded my expectations. The programme managed to leave me with in my opinion a very thorough insight of Barclays despite covering three divisions in only five days. This was due to the fact that everything ran smoothly and was very well organised.
Every person I met at Barclays was genuinely nice and respectful. From grads to senior managers; they talked and listened to us, the spring interns, with their full attention and respect. Throughout the week we were assured that no question was a stupid question. All this made me feel very valued.
Our programme manager was great. He was always there and happy to support us with anything. The last day he let us know that we could reach out to him and he would respond any time (if someone e.g. had more questions about the assessment the next day).
The persuasive speaking skills will definitely be useful in all future presentations I will do. I am certain my life will involve lots of teamwork, and I think that working in a team in a professional environment is always going to be valuable. The information and insight has made me become so much more equipped to choosing the right career for me.
The Company
Every day was well organised in itself, and the week as a whole was also very well structured. We were always well informed through an app and a schedule we were given at the beginning of the week. Letting us gain such a thorough insight into three different areas of Barclays in just five days is the result of a very well structured programme.
The general atmosphere was very pleasant. We were spring insighters - employees knew that and respected that. The atmosphere was very professional. We were located in the main building at Canary Wharf and had to follow Barclays' dress code. The atmosphere between us spring insighters was also very nice. I made many friends.
They must have invested a lot, as so many people took time to engage with us. Furthermore, the activities were well planned and designed to let us learn the most possible in a short amount of time. If we needed more help, e.g. on deciding what summer internship to be assessed for, they made it clear that we could get additional guidance.
To a great extent. We met people from all the levels of seniority, which made me learn a lot about the possible career paths at Barclays. The people were good at explaining what they do. The case study was useful to learn more about one of the areas (corporate banking).
Everything Else
I did not need reimbursements, but those who did received it.
They were very nice. Every single person I met at every event was respectful and genuinely interested in the questions I asked. We got to meet people from all levels of seniority, which gave me a holistic view of all the opportunities Barclays offers. The networking events came with refreshments.
Definitely. It left me with a much better understanding of what a career in the different areas I got to see involves, and has made me much more certain about what I want to do for a career. Getting this level of insight during the first year of university is a privilege.
