    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The experience has been impeccable. In the time that I have spent here I have learnt so much about the culture of Barclays as well as the various functions that make the bank run efficiently on a daily basis. [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] have been so helpful with coordinating everything. I can stress how amazing it has been.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] took care of us in the best way possible, they answered all our questions, helped out with passport scans and directed us to relevant people in our department. The Barclays staff also made it clear that they were happy to help and were so insightful. Not to forgot the food!

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • In terms of support, I feel as though this was given to us through answering of questions as well as giving us extra time to complete our group projects and sorting out any discrepancies with dietary requirement. Throughout the programme help was very accessible as well as giving us ideas on how to go about networking & our project.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The information I received has most definitely pushed me to reapply for any future programmes offered by Barclays - grad scheme, summer internship. I have also learnt a great deal about the importance of presentations, this is something I’ll work on now so as to be ready for the working world.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • It was very intense on some days yet it was concise on some days. It gave us adequate time to learn about every function as well as networking with grads so as to start building good relationships within the bank. In hindsight it has been very hands on yet effortless due to how well structured it is.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • It was so friendly and comfy. I can genuinely say that at no point in the programme did I feel as though I was being assessed or competing for a place, everyone was so relaxed. It felt like I was with my friends all throughout the week, very formal yet informal.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • For the time that was able to be allocated to such training, they did a great job. The IDG session really helped me identify some of the areas that I needed to improve on as well as the insight sessions providing an example of how groups should work together and present information.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • I got a very honest picture painted for me by graduates who were on various grad schemes. I feel as though I can see the possible challenges that could arise from day to day work, however, I am also able to see the perks and benefits of working at Barclays Bank.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • My whole takeaway from this programme was how great the culture at the bank was as well as the various subcultures within the bank. Although it can never be perfect, the culture at Barclays across the whole bank is generally very positive, supportive and pro self development and career development.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Coming into the programme I already knew what I wanted to go into, though the sessions did help in confirming that what I thought was for me was for me. The sessions went into as much depth as possible at this level and the question time allowed me to get a better insight into the risk division.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Personally I was fine to not be paid but just have my travel reimbursed as all of this was invaluable experience. However, I did find it very endearing that the bank considered me to be a worthy investment and give me more than required to cover my costs and leave me with a surplus.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • At any point during the programme there was space and time to network, be it with other interns, grads or directors and MD’s. There was also a nice informal networking event where we got to have free conversations with various people working in the bank. I built some good connections throughout the programme.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • 5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • 4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Most definitely!
