About You
It was an experience I am never going to forget. I did not expect it to be this interesting and engaging but as it turns out it was amazing! The knowledge I gained from it and from how a bank operates is invaluable. I would definitely do it again if I had the chance.
I always felt at the center of discussions and projects. I would say that Barclays has done a great job into how the insight week is structured and the way they treat us with respect and integrity.
I cannot not find one bad thing of the way I was treated. All my questions have been answered in a thorough way and in a way I could understand them without too much terminology. I was not expecting everyone to be this friendly and supportive.
I believe the information I’ve gathered as to how each function of the bank operates and the way everything is interconnected would definitely assist me in my pursuit of a career in the banking sector. Everything I’ve found so far was really interesting and inspiring.
The Company
The insight was done in a very professional approach. It was structured so that you could learn about everything in detail and ask as many questions as you have. I really enjoyed the graduates sessions as in time I would be in their shoes so having the chance to speak to them and learn from their struggles was invaluable.
Everyone was friendly, cooperative and supportive. You always felt in the place of things and I would say I was always engaged.
I believe Barclays invests a lot in new incomers especially in terms of young talent and spring weeks. They are always there for you.
Being in the Headquarters was an experince which will always be in my mind. Having never been in a big firm I would say I was breathless as to how everything seemed. I learned a ton of information as to how everything connects and what daily roles some bankers have.
Before coming into the spring week I had no idea that Barclays has invested so much into company culture and values. After seeing it in person I would say that now I see how important they are for a firm of this stature and as a whole.
Every session was done in an interesting and engaging way. I would say that everyone tried to make it as interactive as possible which is the easiest way for a person like me to gain knowledge and experience what it is like to work in a certain position.
Everything Else
I did not at all expected to be paid for this insight week. It was a nice surprise and to see that Barclays cares so much for everyone involved with them. It shows that they truly care about every single one of the people they want to hire. They try their best to invest in them and I hope that every investment is returned tenfold for them.
There were at least 2 networking sessions which were really interesting. Having experienced this I would say that I have become better into socializing and talking to people from more senior positions.
They were done in a very professional way. In a room with an amazing view as well as having snacks and drinks.
Barclays offers numerous activities outside company working hours. They are connected with almost all aspects of life. You could be engaged in amazing social events as well as ones connected to the finance world. Everything you do teaches you something so from the info I have gathered Barclays is involved in many many events and projects outside of work.
If I had the chance I would definitely do it again. Being in such a respected place of work with other people in your position and the connection you make they are helpful for your professional growth.
