    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • It was good, the two girls who ran the week [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] were really lovely and helpful. The week was really insightful and gave a look into the careers are Barclays. The only criticism was that there wasn't much insight into developer careers which is what a lot of people were here for, we only spoke to one developer the whole week as a group.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • There were lots of directors and people in high management positions that came to talk to us and let us work shadow them, this made us feel like we were valued. They constantly iterated that we were the future of Barclays and that they wanted to invest into us which felt nice.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • We had a lot of support in terms of potential careers into Barclays, but we weren't made fully aware of the positions into both the analyst and developer positions. A lot of people still felt confused when they were making their decisions. A bit more of an over view into exactly what you can do with both would have been great.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • There was no practical sessions really, there was one session about leadership and followship which was fun and made you take other personality account into account. I though there would be more practical sessions including maybe an insight into careers in developing at Barclays. Even though some don't code a quick session on building basic code would be fun.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Very structured. Almost a bit too much, when speakers were extremely interesting and people had a lot of questions they were still rushed off of stage, it would be nice to have a little bit more flexability so when someone was there we really engaged with we could have more time.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere and the people were really great, they picked a very diverse bunch of people from all different backgrounds which worked really nicely and gave people the opportunity to bond with others they may usually not. The hotel always had a nice atmosphere especially at dinner and bonding around the bar.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We felt heavily invested in, from the pay to the 4* hotel Barclays had obviously paid a lot of money out to put this week on which was fairly obvious from how well structured. As previously mentioned there were a lot of people who were from high positions talking to us and taking their time out of the day.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • There were tons of people giving insight into their roles so we had a broad range of potential careers. But not many from developers which wasn't great as it was the career a few of us were here for. However, going to the cafe for lunch gave us a great insight into the general life of the employees.

    4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • There were many facilities on site for staff, including gyms and societies for staff. The staff spoke about the flexibility of the working day, being able to work from home and being able to choose your working hours in most departments. It seemed like most tech companies standard working experience.

    4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • If you wanted to go more into the Analyst side of the business it was very insightful, however we only spoke to one developer and visited the cyber crime team but we didnt speak to anyone from back end developments/app dev ect which would have been useful for anyone looking for that sort of career.

    3/5
