About You
I believe that the whole experience helped me grow in the end. It was at the same time interesting and useful from an educational point of view. Each session we had was great, and no issues from the organizational point of view or as regards contents showed up. I would definitely do it again.
Coming from Italy, I did not expect this kind of treatment from Barclays' employees. Each one, from seniors to juniors and graduates, enjoyed having even just a chat with me. From that, anyone could notice the happiness that can be felt at Radbroke campus. In my country, this is something that would not happen at all probably.
I received full guidance on the steps to follow and assistants where available all the time. when I had doubts, they were immediately solved, either by asking them or just looking around. the material provided was more than sufficient to spend a good week, and each piece of information was precise and concise.
I think that the skills I have developed will not be useful for my university studies, since in one week there is no time for technical learning. However, the soft skills I had the opportunity to test and develop will be useful for my whole life, not just for my degree studies.
The Company
The whole programme was structured from the first moment to the last, we did not have a moment where we did not know what to do. Coaches arrived on time, dinner was served on time, and each session at the campus lasted as scheduled. I overall liked the organization of it.
The general atmosphere was in line with my expectations: lots of young students willing to learn and a bit of genuine competition. From Monday to Friday, everybody was focused on their tasks as an adult would be. I believe it is good to test a working environment before starting actually with your first job, so it was definitely useful.
There was not a moment when I felt ignored or just put aside, it is evident that the company is interested in its newcomers. as regards personal training and development only soft skills were developed during the session because of time reasons (only 5 days), so I would say that I am satisfied.
Each networking and work shadowing session provided us with information and tips on how it would be to work in the company.
I understood the company culture in each of its sides.
definitely useful.
Everything Else
I did not have to spend a pound on coming to England from Italy, and this is something really admirable. I even got paid 250 pounds, so I am utterly satisfied with the treatment. I did not expect something more, and I liked the fact that Barclays is available for reimbursement.
Lots of opportunities.
Perfect, meeting both graduates and seniors is the best way to network. On one hand, seniors give you the opportunity to know more the company at high levels, and are always kind and available for discussing and helping. On the other hand, graduates show you what your role can be in the future, meaning 2/3 years.
Not much, but 5 days is not enough for that.
I would definitely recommend it, It is an experience that helps you grow, no matter what are your life expectations. If I could, I would help my brother coming there next year, even if he's not as tech as me, because it would be useful even for someone who is not that interested, because it can make him/her change his/her mind.
