About You
Really enjoyed the insight, learnt so much about Barclays and how it operates as a company. Lots of insight for both analysts and developers alike. Great tool for furthering your networking and your connection with people in business you can use it to really expand your business knowledge and your personal brand.
I felt really valued, Katie and Rachel who ran the intern week really helped each of us feel valued and important at what we were doing. The entire week was about explaining to us just how important technology is at underpinning the banks operations and how both technical and non-technical people can thrive at Barclays
Every step of the way we were guided and supported to be the best we could, before we would go into the interview we were constantly told just how valued we actually were for the company so by the end of it you felt quite important and it helped remove any anxiety.
I think a lot of the talks were really technologically focused and had some really interesting topics. We also had a talk from Adam Kramer who is the Chief Security Officer, that talk was incredibly interesting for the more technically involved and really helped my journey deciding where I see my future.
The Company
It was incredibly structured, it had a detailed agenda of tasks and we followed them to a tee, everything ran like a clock and I really enjoyed that level of structure throughout my week since it left no confusion in what would be taking place, hopefully I can keep this level of structure in my own life.
Everyone was really lovely, I made some friends I can see keeping for a long time. Everyone was very professional during the spring week and it helps you really get into that headspace when you see how competent and smart everyone else, they were all obviously picked for good reason
They invested everything in us, it’s clear they cared for us and really showed that they were putting this investment in for good reason as they taught us all so much hopefully we all get the opportunity to stay on with Barclays and almost everyone sees their future here at Barclays.
I definitely learnt from every single role at Barclays and work shadowing taught me how the roles work at Barclays, as someone wanting to go into a developer role I wish I got more time with developers but the developers I did meet were so interested in our learning they would take time out of their day to interact with us and I really appreciate that.
A serious amount, after this week I understand the company culture so well. We have spent almost every session going over the companies values RISES and how to behave within the companies culture which i see as a huge benefit to show these values in my day to day life
Super valuable as speaking to the project managers and the Chief Security Officer and developers I completely flipped back and forth throughout the week in what I wanted to do because the paths you could go down all seemed so interesting I couldn’t stop redefining my future. I am now secure on what I wish to do.
Everything Else
I was paid adequately for the week experience, they covered hotel and food costs.
There were plenty of networking events that have really expanded my horizons, we had a networking event at a local bar and being in that environment really let me make some personal connections with staff at Barclays and further my business connections that hopefully I can utilise in the future.
As I stated in the previous the networking events were above the rest in terms of actually talking to people like they are people and actually learning their backgrounds and how it led to the roles they were involved in. It really helps me understand where they are coming from
Not really because a lot of people travel from Manchester and around, in terms of that I definitely learnt more about the area and around knutsford I definitely explored the activities available within the Barclays campus and there are plenty with a huge campus offering lots for anyone from exercise background
Absolutely, someone in my position who is a first year wishing to improve their own portfolio and really increase their ranking among other students this is the way to go. I really learnt a lot so i also improved not only my business portfolio but my personal portfolio, i have improved.
