About You
The insight was structured very well, the people were very nice and the overall experience was good. My only issue was that my department wasn't very busy so I often had to ask around for work and was unable to find quality things to do. However, this is very department specific.
The firm is extremely welcoming! We had a social night for the vac schemers and the trainees so we were able to bond with them. I then got invited on a department night out which was nice to be included in.
Everyone is always extremely happy to help at any time - if they are busy they will tell you come back in 10 mins or however long. Any questions I asked were always welcomed and encouraged. The firm wants you to learn about it, as much as it wants to learn about you.
The skills are unlikely to assist my studies as they are mainly exam based. However, the experience is immensely useful for beyond degree as I have learnt skills that I will need in training to be a lawyer.
The Company
We got given a timetable on the first day and this was stuck to over the week. We had a good mix of department days, social night, a Q and A session, 2 assessments and a chat with Grad Rec at the end.
Amazing! Everyone is always extremely nice and friendly and I genuinely felt like they wanted to get to know me and help me over the week. The employees are all friends with each other outside of work and that definitely reflects on the atmosphere at work.
I was sat in an office with an associate who was happy to help. But I'm not sure any personal training or development took place.
100%! I don't feel like there was any pretences or fakery - what I experienced and the experiences of the employees I spoke to were definitely real and what I would expect if I were to work there.
Definitely! I would say the culture is one of friendliness, helping each other and motivation.
The scheme demonstrated to me what the life of a lawyer entailed.
Everything Else
Yes I got a set fee for the week
Yes, we had lunch with the trainees and supervisors on the first day, then we had a social night with the trainees on the Wednesday. I then went out with my department and its clients on Thursday.
They were good! It is nice to get to know people in a more informal setting.
Yes, the trainees were big on explaining this. The social side is an important part of the company.
If they were looking to work at the firm, yes.
