About You
The week was really nice! I like the fact that there were many interactive sessions with the people from the business. My two hésitations are the following: 1/ the Interactive Behavior session was very nice but a bit too long. 2/ It was difficult to choose the division before having the research presentation.
HR and people from the business were very nice. They were keen to answer our questions and were inspiring. The accommodation was very nice, even if a little bit far from Canary Wharf (compared to the one provided by other bank, but it was totally fine). However, as we were a lot of students, sometimes it was hard to differentiate ourselves.
[This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] was very listening and understanding regarding our divisional choice. The cooker was very nice and offered me a sandwich on the first day as I am a vegetarian. Compared to another bank in which I did a spring week before, however, HR tend to answer less quickly by email.
1/ Knowledge: Application of financial methods during the banking and sales case study. We learnt and will remember many tips that will help us in the future. 2/ Skill: ability to learn quickly and understand a lot of information. 3/ Skill: adapt to different people in an international environment (either people from Barclays or among the other spring interns).
The Company
- On the first day, the Inspirational Behavior session was interesting but far too long. I would have préfères having an explanation of the economic landscape (from the 2008 crisis to today) and Barclays’ evolutions given this context. - I liked the networking cocktail. - The divisional choice was hard to make before having the presentation of every department. In addition, maybe a research case study would have been nice.
The other spring interns were very nice, we had nice conversations! It was also nice to work with other spring interns for the debate.
We had the opportunity to see many people from the business who took the time to speak to us. The Inspirational Behavior was very interesting, above all on the first day (even if, again, loo long). I would have liked to be able to keep the case studies materials, dip possible (above all the banking case study).
The big plan of Barclays’ divisions was very clear; it helped me a lot. It was nice to seen many people with many different positions to understand better what each team does. Only hesitation: it would have been nice if a person from the research team participated in the market interactive session.
Maybe insist more on Barclays’ values.
Everything Else
I am still waiting the payment but Barclays’ payment and reimbursement of the week it perfect.
The networking cocktail was nice but there were too many interns for to few people form the business. It was nice to have people from the business at lunch. Maybe a networking coffee would have been nice to really be javle to interact with people and, if possible/relevant, keep in touch with them.
We have a very nice presentation of the communities, it was very inspiring! Maybe it would have been interesting to be able to participate in one of these events! However, we did not have any presentation of Barclays employees’ inspiring volunteering work, whereas it is promoted on Barclays’ website for instance.
