    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I gained overviews of each division in a more interactive way and met new people that are good to talk to. Especially when we had the chance to gain knowledge of two preferred division and gain more understanding into this which was helpful. The people at BAML has been kind and aligns to its culture well which made it very enjoyable.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • HR's well-planned agenda was helpful in all aspects, particularly how well-planned the networking events were it made me felt that every intern was valued. Everyone I met, spring insight interns and the employees, are approachable and I'm able to ask a lot of questions which also made me feel valued.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • When I had any questions, I can approach the staff, and they were kind and would explain clearly. Also, the people that even if I just met once, I feel that I can easily ask them questions again because they are willing to spare a moment to answer my questions.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight week was very well-structured, providing overviews of each division then explaining more about each one. Thereafter, I had the chance to experience what is it like in the divisions of my interest which is helpful and by starting from an overview to specific division information, it helps to understand the business overall better.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • BAML's culture was definitely clear during the insight week. Everyone was willing to help each other, especially the staff, and the people are genuine and polite hence I felt comfortable being in this environment. I have made new friends from different countries as BAML is so diverse and I enjoy the overall atmosphere because of the great people and diversity.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I can see that BAML has invested a lot of its time and effort into spring insight interns from the number of employees that were involved in this week from various roles and the excellent quality of the food to networking events. I can see that BAML has thought about the structure of the week a lot to provide the best insight and advice for us.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • By various business panels, work shadowing and a group case study, it has allowed me to ask questions about staff's daily tasks in their roles and having practical experience experiencing something that staffs will do in their role. Therefore it has helped me to understand if I was to work at BAML, what I can expect.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • BAML's culture is very friendly, which seemed unrealistic when I read it on the website until the spring week. By having the opportunity to talk to various people yet realising that they are all supportive and kind, it shows how the company's culture is true for all the staff and the diversity is so significant that I can see the culture of people in the bank clearly.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The presentation and tasks that we did were always related to either the business or skill building which can aid us in our future careers, therefore I found the whole spring week useful. Moreover, by understanding the divisions of my preference in detail, it enables me to understand what I enjoy to do in the future.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • My travel expenses are reimbursed which was good because if not the spring week would have cost more for me. This also shows how BAML recognised people from different financial backgrounds and support everyone to come to BAML by looking at their skills instead of their background and financial capabilities.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • We had 3 networking events which all varied. Two events were officially networking events where different people from different divisions were there to talk to us and happy to answer any questions to help you to understand the business more. There was also a networking dinner where the atmosphere was more relaxed with great food and I can have a nice chat with some senior staff.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Overall, the three networking events helped me understand what BAML and each division do more, hence helped me to achieve my goal of gaining an understanding of the business. Moreover, talking to these staff were not challenging because they are all polite and approachable so I can even have a nice chat with them and not talk about the business.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • I have talked to several people who have joined networks in BAML that is not related to their work, such as LGBT+, military and sports network. This is where they can meet new people in the bank with similar interest and hobbies. Also, employees can also engage in volunteering to contribute to the community.

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would definitely recommend this to my friend and share my insights because this has been so useful in helping me to understand what BAML do, where some broad overviews of investment banks help me to understand the industry in general. Also, the skill-building session helped my development and meet new people and work as a team which was fun.
