About You
The insight was highly enjoyable and gave me a comprehensive understanding of the town planning department. What was particularly impressive was the way I was integrated into the team and actually allowed to make a real contribution. If you want a proper insight into a real estate company, this is definitely the best insight programme around.
I felt highly valued as I was able to participate in a number of projects and activities that had a contribution to real life. The fact they was able to trust me and provide me with actual work that enabled me to develop my commercial awareness, technical skills and soft skills was brilliant.
I received a lot of guidance throughout the programme as it was organised very well. I was mentored by a graduate student but had the opportunity to work with directors and heads of teams.
It assisted me highly as it enabled me to develop a range of soft skills as well as technical skills for my specific function. This will help me in my studies as it puts practice into theory. Furthermore, it has equip me with the capabilities to understand what a working environment is like for the future whilst also contributing to my career choice.
The Company
The structure was relatively good, however I feel 'work shadowing' as a concept is not the most efficient. Also, being situated in a regional office made organisation harder I presume, especially as we had to attend workshops etc. through an online platform. The only real negative I would say is there should be an opportunity to rotate in all tams so you can get a better insight into Savills.
The atmosphere was fantastic. everyone was welcoming no matter their hierarchical position. From the reception staff to the head of the teams, everyone is treated as a valuable team member and treated equally.
The company invested a fair bit into my development through workshops, presentations, hands on guidance and networking events. They also provided free coffee which was great!
As I was given my own desk, computer and workspace, as well as actual work that actual employees do each day I felt like I was one of them. Therefore, it was a perfect opportunity to understand what a role in Savills would be like!
I gained insight into their culture through working hands on and by being exposed to different members within the office. The culture is brilliant as they are all intelligent and welcoming people. By being placed again within an actual team, you can to see first hand what the culture is like!
Was highly valuable for deciding my career path. This is because it exposed me to the whole business and provided me with valuable insight into what they do globally, nationally and locally. For me however I don't think real estate is where I want to end up, but without Savills I wouldn't have known this!
Everything Else
Get paid expenses of up to £100 for travel and lunch.
Yes, as well as meeting everyone through the work shadowing they arrange networking lunches and various events. I was even lucky enough to attend a football 6-a-side networking event with Savills staff and housing developers!
They were very good - provided lunch, good company and an adequate amount of time to talk to graduates and senior members!
Yes, Savills has a fantastic network for activities outside of the workplace. These can range from team holidays to sports to social activities throughout the entire year!
I would most definitely, it is fantastic for your CV as they are a well known company that is hard to get in. Also. it provides you qith experience and allows you to see if you are a good fit for the business and the industry.
