About You
It was a very enjoyable week. I was able to understand better the company and what the people were doing in it. It was also the opportunity to meet people not only from the bank, but also from all around the world. There was a very diverse range of students (background, experiences).
Everybody was happy to answer the questions of the interns. The HR team were always there to give recommendations and guide us perfectly well the whole week. Additionally, the investments bankers from analyst to MD were invited to talk with us and they would give us valuable insights on their job.
The spring week was really aimed to discovering the investment banking and the guidance through it it was really a success. We were able to speak many bankers and even see the trading room. It was really a nice opportunity to better understand true daily routine. The support was also very strong.
These 4 days really enabled me to better understand the investment banking divisions, and what it consisted of. Therefore, I will now focus in my degree on what particularly appealed to me during the week and not especially on what I was not really fond of. I can build on this experience to improve.
The Company
From day 1, we knew exactly how the week would go on. Everything was programmed and disoalyed on an app. We were never lost and always knew what to expect, where and when. There was also no doubt concerning the last day, which was the assessment centre. All slots were very appropriate.
It was very nice talking to everyone. The HR Team was very nice and also all the people from the bank. What was also very enjoyable was to talk to a very diverse range of students (background, experiences). We really gained a lot not only professionally and also in terms of open mindedness to the world.
The firm prepared everything for us. The plane and the accommodation were provided. It was also very well located compared to where we worked. During the week, Barclays really strives to give us the best insight possible to the job. The meals were very good and we could also network during them.
Barclays organised events throughout the week not only in one room but also in the whole bank to really get what it would be like to get a full time role in the bank. There were also many networking events to talk with everyone possible and have the possible view on the bank.
Everything Else
The company provided all that was possible for us to spend the best week possible. The accommodation was provided, the train tickets reimbursed and we were also granted a salary for the week to cover the other expenses. Overall I can only be very happy with what Barclays provided its interns.
There were many networking events the whole. The first day we had a 2 hour dinner with professionals from the bank. Additionally, all the lunches were shared with analysts from the bank who had some time to share with us. During all the conferences, there were also opportunities to ask questions at the end.
