About You
The 4 days were very well organised with a packed schedule. HR were kind and welcoming. We were able to meet and hear from a huge variety of personnel from across the bank in panels, networking lunches, speeches, discussions with reps. Very grateful for those who took time out from work to spend time with us.
Barclays devoted a huge time amount of time and resources to ensure we were able to get the best from the week. Employees at all levels took time out to work and spoke with us frequently with great enthusiasm.
There was always someone nearby to answer any questions. HR could answer any questions concerning the scheduling, the assessment process or simply general questions. Employees were excellent at explaining complex concepts to us.
This week has filled in many gaps in my knowledge concerning the industry and the job. Hopefully it will allow me to navigate studies with more focus and intent.
The Company
A packed schedule was sent out to us before the week began. HR ensured that the timings of the schedule were followed very closely. Potentially, an insight into the research division could have been scheduled in before we were asked to give a preference. However? HR kindly accommodated a change in preference.
All staff were very accommodating and friendly. Fellow interns were great and it made for a really fun week. The atmosphere was supportive and friendly, but also focused.
Many members of staff were available to talk to across the week. Overall, I feel like the firm has invested in me much more than I expected.
This was achieved by the frequent discussions with current employees at all levels across the business.
Culture was talked about a lot and it’s aided what I believe to be a good understanding of the culture at Barclays.
By the end of the week I had a definite focus on one division of the bank - Research. For me, alongside meeting some great people, this has been the best outcome of the week.
Everything Else
Barclays covered travel expenses. They offered accommodation for the week. And they paid £250 to cover other expenses acquired during the week.
Every lunch, staff from different divisions joined us for lunch. We had a networking drinks event one evening. And many of the scheduled activities involved opportunities to meet employees.
Thoroughly enjoyable. Staff were very friendly and informative.
Staff often talked about how they balanced their work and life which was very useful to know.
Absolutely. If someone has a general interest in investment banking then this week is perfect.
