About You
I really enjoyed it,think this is the best insight I have had so far as not only I learnt a lot about how the business works and have knowledge on the day to day operations of the planning and valuation department, I also had the pleasure to work on something hands on, and I think that enabled me to learnt so much more rather than sitting behind someone and observe.
I feel valued all the time as everyone in Savills is really nice, and they offered to help me and walk me through stuff that they are doing. They even took me to site visits and taught me things to look out for when you are valuating a property. I feel valued even with just the simplest things that they do like asking if I need a drink or remembering my name.
I would definitely say help is always available and within near reach as everyone is so helpful. For me, I had a taste in different departments and both departments taught me useful skills and things that are useful to my career, they also gave me lots of advices and I think the support is just fantastic.
I think it helped a lot in general. For example, during my time here I helped to produce a planning site appraisal and it has enabled me to understand more on planning policies and I am more confident and more competent on them now, I am also more equipped in using softwares such as Magic Maps and I think that is a massive assist to my degree as I am doing planning and real estate in university.
The Company
I felt like the insight was really well structured and my mentor has plans for me every single day so that there was never a dull moment here in Savills. From site viewings to meeting potential clients and networking, I feel like every activity was well plans and instructions were very clear on what I was going to do each day.
The general atmosphere in the office was very lively and people are really cheerful yet helpful. My colleagues were very friendly and I can feel that everyone is happy in doing their job and they have the same motivation and passion in what they are doing. The overall experience was very positive and fun never stopped in the office.
I think the company invested a lot on insight students, as they spend resources on their already busied employees to educate and show insight students what their job entitles. The company also spend resources on team lunches and bonding activities. I also have training videos almost every day and they helped me to know much better in the work that I do.This makes me feel like I am very much valued.
I feel like this might be the best work experience I have had and I have learnt a lot about myself in general. It has enabled me to distinguish on the jobs that I absolutely enjoy doing, as well as some of the jobs that I would avoid and have no interest in doing. Overall, I think it helped a lot for me.
I had a brief glimpse on how everyone is just so helpful and passionate at what they do
I honestly feel like the content is just superb and it helped me massively on deciding my future career path because I have the opportunity to work on the day to day tasks that my colleagues are doing and this was honestly the best day to familiarise on the job.
Everything Else
Though I was reimbursed for the expenses, it was not enough to cover my expenses to work in a city far way from where I live. I have to pay for my accommodation fee and train tickets for the week here. However, I feel like the allowance would be sufficient if I was not assigned to a city far way from home.
Yes! A lot.
It was very nice that we get the opportunity to talk to lots of different people from different departments or even potential clients
Yes I realise there is a softball team and football team that employees can join
Yes without a doubt! Absolutely.
