About You
I enjoyed the Spring Week insight organised by Barclays a lot!!! The activities, that they prepared, were interesting, interactive and taught me a lot; I met lot of people and everyone was kind, helpful and willing to share his/her experience and useful tips.
I felt valued a lot because every activity was set to give me and the other participants the possibility to learn, ask questions (there were always 10 minutes for Q&A) and work together (we worked every day in groups)
I received a lot of support during this experience: all the members of the Company were willing to help us and we could contact some of them if we had a problem or further questions.
I study economics and management and I wanted to gather more information about the industry. The knowledge I received and the skills I developed (communicational skills above all) will be critical for my studies and my future work and they surely will help me to continue my studies, to finish them brilliantly and to find a work and excel in it.
The Company
The insight was very well structured: the agenda was accurate and full of interesting tasks to give us a deep understanding of the Company; there was always time to ask questions and the activities allowed us to meet people to know better their work.
The atmosphere was exciting: we had lot of work and presentations but everything was well organised and the people I met were willing, polite and wonderful. It was a real pleasure staying there for a week. I hope to return there soon and to work for this incredible Company one day.
The company invested a lot in me: there were activities of team building and group works to allow me to develop communicational skills, a work shadowing experience that gave me the opportunity to ask questions about this job and tips for my future, lots of events to meet people and presentations to give me a deeper insight of the company.
The insight helped me a lot because, before it, I hadn't a precise idea of the meaning of working in a company like Barclays. The presentations and talking to people that work there gave me a clear and detailed idea of the different tasks and aims of three main areas of the Company.
Barclays has a very strong culture that gives value to respect, integrity, service, excellence, stewardship and diversity: the first five form the word rises, that is the mantra of the Company, and the last can be seen as a fundamental part of their culture thanks to the presence of groups to support colleagues from different geographic backgrounds, LGBT people and junior colleagues.
The content of this experience is crucial in the choice of my future career path: before I had a completely different idea of the world of banking and finance and I thought that I had to choose and develop only one of my passions. Now i know that there's a job that is a blend of them and I completely changed my mind.
Everything Else
The Company reimbursed my travel expenses (I had to use a plane to go to London) and offered me the accomodation. They also decided to reimburse other expenses for the week (tickets to use means of transport and dinner) with a preset amount. Breakfast and lunch were offered by the Company too.
The Company organised a lot of events to network and meet other employees: an example can be the breakfasts and lunches that they organised but also other activities such as presentations and work shadowing. Presentations allowed the employees to sit with us, talk about their job and answer our questions, so they weren't traditional.
There were different kind of opportunities but they were all interesting and interactive: we had lots of occasions (breakfasts, lunches, presentations...) to talk to the employees and they were always smiling, polite and willing to explain their jobs and to answer our questions. I really felt involved in the events that were organised and they were interesting and inclusive.
Yes, they organise lots of events outside of work and they form a very inclusive community.
Absolutely! This experience was fantastic and I think that everyone should do it: the atmosphere is exciting, people are friendly, they pay lots of attention to fundamental values and the activities are interesting and perfect to give an insight of the Company. It was a wonderful experience and I will never forget it.
