    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • It was really very enjoyable. From the first day I felt welcomed and did not feel like I struggled to fit in. The work itself felt like a true insight in to the company and in particular how the audit function works on a day to day basis. Very enjoyable.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt very valued during my time with K P M G. Although I did not have the requisite skills to perform all the tasks I was given I very quickly picked these up through mentoring from the colleagues around me. I was not in any way looked down on for being a student.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • A lot. At K P M G there are many training programs which are in place to support you through your first weeks with K P M G. I also felt that my colleagues around me were very quick to help out if I was struggling with any particular task.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I do not believe the skills I have learned in this insight will particularly help me in my degree because they are not relevant as such. However I wish to go on to work in K P M G and particularly in audit therefore the skills I Learnt will be useful going forward.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The structure of the insight with K P M G was okay. In the first few days there was a mix up with the client I was due to be going to see. However this was sorted with a couple of days and from there the insight was very well structured.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The general atmosphere during the insight was good. There were four of us who were students on this particular insight therefore we did not feel out of place at all. Also in general everyone was very friendly and would always seek to help out if at all possible. Good atmosphere.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I feel like K P M G invested in me a lot during my time with K P M G. We were always encouraged to do online training activities in order to enhance our skills. Also, colleagues were always keen to help out and we were given a manager to help track our progress.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Very well. This is because we were sent out to client sites in order to see and help with the work that the department does on a day to day basis. We were also sent to a number of clients with the team working on different things to have a full view of the department.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • A lot. K P M G and particularly the audit function has a lot of graduates in their team. Going out to client sites with a small team also helped me to see the culture of K P M G and how they aim to conduct themselves both in office and with clients.

    4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The content of the insight was very helpful in helping me decide on a future career path. Across the 4 weeks with K P M G there was plenty of opportunity to reflect on the value of this career as a career I wish to pursue in the future. Very helpful.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • All travel to and from client sites was reimbursed by K P M G. Also on client sites you would receive a £ 5 lunch allowance in order to be able to purchase lunch from a shop without having to return to the office. We were also paid a competitive rate for the 4 weeks.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Yes. At K P M G we received very good exposure to senior managers and partners. For example I was working in a team with the senior manager for one day and we had regular meetings with senior members of staff in order to check on our progress and value of the insight.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Very good. On our first day we were taken out for lunch by some of the managers. This was a great opportunity to network with colleagues and get to know people in the office, which is normally quite a daunting task. It was made very easy at K P M G.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • There was some information about out of work activities however due to my short time at K P M G I did not see fit to partake in these. For example there was a 5 a side football league which all colleagues were invited to join in with, although I didn't.

    3/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Yes 100 %. From the welcoming nature of K P M G to the insight and skills I was able to take out of it I believe this insight is essential for any one wishing to work for a company such as K P M G sometime in the future.
