    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I enjoyed the insight quite a bit; the information provided by the staff was really informative and encouraged me to apply to the summer internship and possibly the graduate programme. The after work social was also very enjoyable and encouraged greater and easier networking, which increased my insight into the firm and my enthusiasm for the firm.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt quite valued, this was shown through their thorough planning of the two days and particularly their social on the first day was extremely fun and encouraged me to take active part in the activities. Moreover, we were given a lot of information about EY’s work towards greater inclusion in the work place which encouraged me to believe that women and people of different abilities will be appreciated here.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Our table host, who was an EY employee, gave useful insights into EY and supported us during our activities through out the two days. We also had quite few employees talking to us and networking with us throughout the day, which gave us a lot of information about the firm.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • It offered a better indication of the career choices ahead and the different streams I can get into, especially offered a deeper insight into tax and assurance schemes. It also offered an insight into the set up of the grad scheme, such as opportunity to learn for the tests which we would have to take.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was really well structured and organised. They was a lot of support to make sure people were comfortable and understand more about the programme and EY. They also offered suitable accommodation and other offers as well. They made it easy to talk to other employees and those in higher positions.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The general atmosphere was very welcoming and friendly. The Employees were willing to talk more about their personal experiences and were very helpful. It was also quite relaxed as there was no expectation of work but rather the company was giving us a small insight into the work they do.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm I believe invested a lot in us. They invited a variety of employees, those from different roles and different branches to help us understand which role would fit us. They also introduced us to the networks and societies they have and it was interesting to know how relaxed and friendly the company is.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The insight was quite limited in that it was only 2 days and we couldn’t exactly see what the work was day to day. However, it provided a basic insight which is what it promised and deeper insight into the company’s values, achievements and culture. They gave a really good insight into the sense of progression at the firm as well.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • I understood the company culture quite well. It is evident that they are quite friendly and welcoming, which was how a lot of them were on the day. Whilst talking to the different employees it was easy to understand they were quite strict in terms of work progression and how quickly you can more to the next stage. So I understand the different elements of the firm.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • This content was very valuable as it made EY quite an attractive firm to join as all the information showed what the advantages were of working here. The panel of women also had really good experiences with EY so that is encouraging. However , I need to learn more about other firms before I confirm EY and the financial services as my career choice.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were lots of opportunities to meet other employees and network with them. The student recruitment team ensured there was a wide variety of employees available. It was important to have new joiners as our table host as it shows perhaps our future and what we might experience. The experienced employees talked about progression and how they got involved in the wider EY network to aid it’s growth.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The networking opportunities were really good and there were several of them throughout the day. During breakfast, lunch and dinner I found myself talking to a wide range of people from different backgrounds. Moreover the social event encouraged me to socialise more and talk to a wider variety of people. Moreover the allocated seats for us which is good as I was forced to sit with people I wasn’t previously introduced to and so widened by network greatly.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes. We had sessions learning about the women’s network and the EY foundation, which the employees can take part in voluntarily and improve gender parity or help young, disadvantage teenagers get involved in EY and build a suitable career for them. I also learnt of leisure activities available, such as playing league netball with other firms.

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would definitely recommend this insight. It was extremely well thought out and planned and also was very informative. There was no time wasted. Moreover, the social was also really good, which differentiates this firm from other firms, as it shows they invest not only in our work but also our networking skills.
