About You
Great insight on the careers at UBS and opportunity to talk to operationals who make themselves available for you. I loved how everything was very well planned and the planning very well respected: started and finished on time. There is also opportunity to meet and talk with almost all the other students which is not always the case elsewhere.
They take into account our career choices during the week. If you can’t find the people you want to talk to, HR is always available to redirect you during the networking sessions. Operationals were very honest as well about their work or the environment at the company which was very helpful.
We received a lot of guidance through presentations as well as panels and workshops, and networking sessions. Moreover, operationals were very open to come and give us advice and support on our group work even though it wasn’t planned. It was very interesting to see that they voluntarily came to help us.
It wouldn’t assist me in my studies I believe in the sense that I am already in a program with predetermined courses. However it does give me a really good idea of how I can see myself in the future within the company, and what I can bring as added values.
The Company
It was very well structured because everything was on time (we started each presentation on time and ended on time as well). Moreover, we had a perfect time allocated to questions where the most interesting insights are given. Breaks were also perfectly integrated to the programme as well as food and drinks which actually really help us to focus afterwards.
It was a really good atmosphere, because every participant was open to know more, whether it was about the company or about the other participants. And I believe this was made possible because the environment was very good and both the HR and operationals were so keen to help us.
They invested money to prepare our arrival, including hotels and travel as well as food at the Company. But they also invested a lot of time bringing operationals from all the hiring divisions that we were interested in. And this allowed people to know more about the other career opportunities besides the one chosen as well.
To a very good extent because the people we met weren’t just telling us about the good things when working at the company. They stayed very realistic and honest, and this allows to open the conversation and trust that what they say is really what you get, but also talk about how they cope with that so we can prepare ourselves.
Because of all the above, I can sincerely say that collaboration and trust are really present in the company. Moreover, they push people to network within the firm and that shows that they are open minded and flexible as well. I can see that they do value the sentiment of their employees.
The content didn’t really help me to decide my career path but not in a bad way: I had decided before coming to the the programme. At least it informed me about the other careers within the bank and helped me to confirm that I wasn’t interested in other divisions for example.
Everything Else
I wasn’t paid unfortunately, but my travel expenses were covered and I also had a room in a hotel. From my point of view everything was good, but I did hear that other participants who went to other insights had 5 stars hotels or that their dinner was covered as well.
They were all opportunities to discuss or ask questions to other employees of the company. It was also very exciting to meet other participants who you will surely see again in the future because the world of finance is very small and they push you to take any opportunity to network.
Every event during the day was an opportunity to network and learn about others. Very well planned but also very nice operationals that take time out of their schedule to come and talk to us, but also help us on our group project even if it was not planned at all.
We learned about some societies where they can volunteer or the fact that they can go to the gym, but that is all. Maybe this is not something they focused on but at the same time, as participants we were more into what activities they are involved on within the companies.
Absolutely, in order to learn more about the company and meet people within the company, get insights as well as contacts But also to meet other students like us because it is a real chàce to have at one place people who are going through the same experiences as us and see the differences as well in our background!
