About You
No complaints, each business area and the possible job roles within were presented in an understandable and interesting manner. Extra workshops and case studies were added which made the insight enjoyable as we got to step in the shoes of those who worked there. I would definitely do it all again if I could.
In a cohort of less than 50, the organisers and a lot of the people we had met throughout the day were able to remember my name off by heart. Whilst this may seem insignificant, it made me feel welcome as it must have been hard to remember everyone's name in a short period of time.
All avenues of support were made known to us. Guidance was always made possible for us and no question seemed too bad to not ask. The organisers were always available to help with anything at all and everyone who came in to talk with us gave useful advice that I can use for the future.
I picked up skills in areas outside of my current degree which I may be able to make use of when exploring further into roles that use these skills. The skill I improved on was communication as I talked and worked with other interns throughout the duration of the spring week.
The Company
The insight was well timetabled and very few activities needlessly overextended. The timetable was provided to the spring interns from the first day that we arrived at the office so that we immediately knew activities to expect on each day of the spring insight programme so we could prepare beforehand.
Everyone was friendly and seemed genuine. Respect was given and upheld during each speaker session with mobiles always remaining on silent. Plenty of good questions were asked and the answers that were given by each speaker was overwhelminly insightful. Everyone knew it wasn't a competition so peer support was always present.
I knew the firm cared as soon I qualified for the spring week. Accomodation, food and travel was provided for which developed myself in the way that I could return this level of care back to the firm. Speakers from all levels of the firm were brought in to give workshops that developed myself technically.
Every speaker from different roles in different business areas made the day to day activities and general duties known during each of their talks. Since most of them held a full time role in the firm with varying levels of experience. Their information helped me to understand what it was like to be in their role.
The company culture was clear as soon as I step foot in the office. Whilst I had done research on their principles and values before, it was clear that they were upheld in the office as there was a consistent sense of collaboration, achievement and inclusivity that were present throughout.
As mentioned before, useful advice was given by the speakers which will help me in my decision.
Everything Else
I was reimbursed and had accommodation and food paid for.
Absolutely there were networking opportunities daily.
Very good, I was able to network with employees at all levels of the firm.
UBS prides itself on volunteering and the daily life descriptions by employees also described the activities they did outside of work.
Without a doubt. There is the opportunity to network and gain useful knowledge
