    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • It was a really great experience - I got to meet lots of inspiring young people doing amazing things and I have particularly enjoyed the mix of cultures and opinions in the group. Banking is the career I want to go into and being able to see what happens day to day within a bank is very exciting.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt very valued - from months before the insight week Ann & Hannah were in touch on a regular basis and this only continued during the program itself. Everyone has been encouraged to speak and if I had had any problems I know they would have been swiftly resolved.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I have received a lot of support, through fellow students, the Junior Talent staff and all employees of the company. Staff who gave presentations were willing to come to networking events and just generally give us advice on our projects which was very touching. Instructions were clearly given via emails.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The job-specific knowledge will be very helpful going forward trying to secure internships and graduate jobs because I now know which areas of the Investment Bank I would like to go into. Techniques such as multiple analysis will be useful in Corporate Finance and Accounting modules during my degree years.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The timetable on the Guidebook App was very handy and this gave it a clear structure - starting off with a breakfast every morning was a nice informal start to the day and then the workshops and talks were clearly signposted. Breaking for lunch after a couple of hours was also very appreciated.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming which is good because potentially banking can be intimidating so the fact that everyone was willing to get on and chat to you about normal things rather work all the time was very reassuring. We were all trying to do our best but also working as a team.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • UBS invested a lot in me, throughout the recruitment process and during the program with the staff giving up revenue opportunities to improve my understanding.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • To a large extent but ultimately every day is different in an Investment Bank so they could only give a flavour.

    4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Very much so, I had read about the culture on the website but meeting people in the company it was evident that the culture influences how they work - e.g. being Swiss

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • It gave me a lot of things to ponder and has left me with lots of questions I need to figure out about how I want my career to go.

    4/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Having the option of an open return was very welcome flexibility.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • I hadn't appreciated just how much networking there would be but it has been incredibly useful.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Good food and drink provided, very helpful graduates - an hour and a half flew past on Monday evening.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Through networking I learnt about the social football teams and we also heard about volunteering options in the community.

    4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • You can only find out so much from the internet, actually going to a bank enhanced my knowledge so much faster and I also made good friends.
