About You
I loved it. It was better than what I expected, we got to try a lot of different activities and we met so many inspirational people who were very extremely enthusiastic of the company. It was very enjoyable also because of the culture of the company and the support given from everyone involved in the project.
I felt very valued during my week internship. I tried a lot of different activities and I got to interact in all of them, the people that I was shadowing asked for my input and my ideas and explained the concept behind everything very clearly so that I didn't feel at any disadvantage when giving my ideas.
The two major mentors were always available if we had any questions or needed support inside or outside the working hours. They supported us fully during the assessment centre and gave us a lot of advice for this internship but also for our future internships. Everyone that I shadowed was very supportive too and nice and helpful if I didn't fully understand a concept
During my internship I developed skills that I would have never developed in university. I am confident that these skills will help me going forward both in my studies and relationships with employers and colleagues. I learnt a lot about fintech companies and developed both my soft skills and developed awareness of how my current studies in university will be used in a work environment.
The Company
The insight week was generally structured well, we did a lot of shadowing and met a lot of people from different departments. The time to activity ratio was good therefore the only thing I would suggest would be to slightly increase the length of the internship (a few days more) to allow for different activities to take place.
The atmosphere was calm and inspiring. It was extremely helpful to allow us to settle in and ask questions and the general feeling from the people I met was that they wanted to know my opinions and if there was anything they could improve. I believe this calm atmosphere and the campus reflect very well the values of the company.
In the first day we did a very long induction on soft skills, MOP, the company values, our timetable etc... I believe this was very important and it helped us to ensure that we could enjoy our week as much as possible. We got "training" on the shadowing activities as much as they could give us in 2hrs slots
This was a very well developed area of the internship. Given that we shadowed a lot of people I understood what I would be like to work for the company full time and what it was like to join the graduate scheme. It was helpful as we got to discuss the type of work people do here and what time of work-life arrangement the company allows.
A lot. Everyone in the company truly embraces the company values and it's extremely proud to show them off. The environment reflects the company values and the office settings allow the company values to come off always during working times. Even when people are not in the office, teams work well and the company values are shown in their phone or videocall meetings
I certainly helped me to consider a career in a fintech company a bit more seriously. I liked the ideas and products they were working on and the technology involved seemed to be very interesting both in a security aspect and customer experience aspect. It also helped me to consider a career as a project manager
Everything Else
Yes I was reimbursed adequately for this experience.
There were a lot of opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company and these started with the first day when we met a lot of people in the induction and continued with our shadowing of different departments of the business. We were encouraged to ask everyone for their LinkedIn contact and stay in touch after this experience
They were very good and very well developed as we got to meet people before we started shadowing but we also got to know the person we were shadowing and their role pretty well. Overall the social event opportunities were very well organised and gave everyone an opportunity to connect with someone
Yes I found out a lot of the groups and meetups that the employees can get involved in. Particularly for tech there were a few and I was happy to know that there are some specific to encourage women to get into tech. There are also classes at the gym on campus which employees can attend
Absolutely yes, this experience changed my view of fintech companies and gave me a better insight into what type of company I want to work for and what values I want to see in a company. I was impressed with the whole environment and the experience and I would definitely do it again if I was given the chance
