About You
I really enjoyed the DLA Piper Spring Insight Programme. It was very informative and enjoyable and I gained an invaluable insight into the firm, its culture and its people. Over the three days in the London office, we listened to talks from some of the firm’s key people and took part in engaging tasks and workshops.
I definitely felt valued during the programme. Every member of the firm that we spoke to appeared genuinely interested in what we had to say. This allowed us to engage in full, detailed, thought provoking discussions involving varied opinions from people at every stage in their legal career from a variety of backgrounds.
The atmosphere of the programme was very friendly. I felt very comfortable and able to contribute to discussions, but equally enjoyed sitting back and listening to others’ excellent points. Everyone at the firm was very welcoming and approachable, and the graduate recruitment team went above and beyond to make us feel at ease and support us throughout the programme.
I am sure that the insight and inspiration I gained and the skills I developed during the three days of the programme will assist me to a significant extent in my degree studies. Specifically, I hope to be able to apply the knowledge I have gained about commercial law to my studies.
The Company
The itinerary was very full and well organised, with engaging sessions and breaks in between. The wide variety of talks, workshops, Q&A sessions etc, as well as the many people we spoke to, allowed us to gain a well-rounded impression of the firm. This insight will be invaluable to us all as we proceed with our careers.
The atmosphere throughout the insight was very friendly and relaxed. We were fortunate enough to listen and speak to a wide variety of people in the firm, from trainees to partners and the joint managing director (who was especially inspiring!) Everyone was extremely approachable, contributing to the firm’s general friendly culture.
The programme gave me an invaluable insight into what it would be like to work for DLA Piper. Speaking to current trainees about their applications and experience of the firm was especially useful. It allowed us to consider whether it was suited to us and how to further our own careers.
The programme also gave me an insight into the culture of DLA Piper. My impression of the firm’s culture was overwhelmingly positive. Everyone appeared motivated and hard working, while also being down to earth and approachable. I would not have been able to gain this level of insight without visiting the firm.
Everything Else
DLA Piper provided me with accommodation for the duration of the insight programme. The hotel was very nice and conveniently located near the office. Most meals were provided, and I was reimbursed for food expenses for other meals. I was also reimbursed for travel expenses (train from Edinburgh to London).
There were many experiences throughout the programme for networking. There was a welcome drinks reception on the Monday evening, where we were able to speak to members of the firm in a relaxed setting. There were also opportunities during sessions and breaks to network and talk to people in the firm.
I would definitely recommend this insight programme to a friend. I was able to gain an insight into the firm and it’s culture that I would not have been able to through online research or word of mouth etc. It was also very useful to gain advice for furthering my legal career.
