The Role
I was able to get opportunity to experience a variety of different activities both inside and outside of my role. This kept me interested as I wasn't always doing the same thing and got to learning about new things.
Everyone I have interacted with have been friendly and expressed their gratitude when I helped someone or did something good etc.
There is lots of structure put in place to make sure that there is someone I or any other intern could go to for general support. There is a whole network for written guidance and internal communities which you can reach out to for role or topic related advice, as well.
For the most part I always had work I can do but there are times when I have more flexibility with how I spend my time and times when I had to focus on one thing.
On my project, as I was working mainly with my manager, a lot of the responsibility for the completion of tasks were on myself. However, I receive a lot of guidance as to how I should go about complete those tasks so it wasn't too difficult.
I definitely gained a lot from my time at IBM, I learned a level of professionalism and maturity that I don't think I would have got so soon by going to University. I also the think the agile methodology used complete work has given be good habits that I can apply to any work I do in the future.
