The Role
IBM provided me with a great placement year with plenty of opportunities to take advantage of. IBM is a very flexible company allowing you to get yourself involved in tasks outside of your job role to expand your knowledge and skills.
I felt very valued by my colleagues, everyone was more than willing to help but also gave me a lot of responsibility and challenges to take on independently.
You are assigned an Early Professionals Manager (EPM) at IBM who will be your main point of contact if you need any guidance or support. My EPM was very informative and always happy to meet me if I had any queries. My managers were also very keen to give me any advice/support to help me throughout my year.
For most of my placement I was very busy with multiple projects going on at the same time, but this was enjoyable and a good challenge.
My mangers were very dependent on me for work and gave me a lot of responsibility which was great.
Throughout the year I built up my network within IBM to help me when I hopefully come back as a grad! I also learnt many other skills during my time here.
The Company
Lively office, with lots of other interns with you! Constantly busy.
The placement was very well organised. When you start you have a 2 day induction before meeting your task manager and EPM. The year is structured with a placement journal as well, to keep a record of your progress and goals you want to achieve.
There are hundreds of different badges online you can train yourself to complete to carry on learning throughout the year, even if it is not entirely relevant to your day to day role. There are many options available!

Very appealing. I will be re-applying for a grad role after I graduate university.
The Culture
I worked in South Bank were there were around 120 other interns, so socially it was great!
Quite expensive, but you can't avoid that - so expect to spend a lot!
Nightlife in London is as good as you can imagine.
Yes there were multiple opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work.
