    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The insight day allowed me to expand my knowledge about fund management, and the difference between different firms, such as investment banks and firms such as M&G. The presentations and networking made me realise that I would much rather a job at somewhere like M&G rather than an investment bank, and also helped me reevaluate my career choices in the future. Also, as I am currently studying Finance & Investment, the trading exercise went hand in hand with my studies and allowed me to put my studies into perspective.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • All members of staff that presented, organised and took time out of their day during the networking and panel discussions made me feel very valued and comfortable at the firm. I felt extremely welcomed to come forward and ask questions and also speak with those who are currently doing roles that I would pursue in the future.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • The presentations broke down the roles of the company very clearly and compared M&G to other firms, explaining the similarities and differences. This, alongside the networking, allowed me to think about my future, and also gave me multiple opportunities to ask any questions to make utilise my time at the firm. Speaking to current graduates allowed me to see what steps I need to take in order to reach their position in the future, and to see what M&G look for in their employees.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The trading exercise allowed me to put my studies into perspective and enhanced my understanding of my current studies. The discussion panel has assisted me in when I apply for jobs after I graduate and the steps I should take between now and then. Speaking to people first hand also helped as they gave me one to one advice and support.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was structured well- the day was on schedule and we left on time. The activities planned for the day were carefully thought through and it was evident that a lot of time and care was put into the insight day and making it as beneficial for us as possible, which I really appreciate.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • General atmosphere was really good, there was positive energy and behaviour thorughout. Having activities that we had to work in a group allowed me to make new friends and also made my day more enjoyable. The staff were very nice and caring, and all the staff who took part in the networking were more than happy to answer any queries you had or any advice/support you needed.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm spent about an hour of the insight day talking us through the recruitment process, which gave us an insight into what we would expect when applying in the future. The discussion panel helped with our development as they gave us first hand advice and experiences which developed my understanding of what it takes to work in the industry and what you need.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The insight day really opened my eyes as to what it would be like to work at M&G and I can honestly say that after the guest speakers and the networking, I was ready to apply for a job there and then! Speaking to the employees during the lunch break allowed me to understand different roles within the firm and how flexible the roles can be.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Speaking with the employees really made me realise that M&G really do care about their employees. This is very important for me. Also, many employees emphasises that the company is very understanding and helps you when you want to take part in extra activities that will help develop you as an individual outside of the company.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Extremely helpful. The insight day provided information about the firm and different firms and developed my commercial awareness of that particular field in the industry. After returning home from the day and doing some research, I can also consolidate that the insight day made me realise that the career I wanted to pursue is in fact not the career I want, however, a career at M&G definitely is!

  • The networking opportunity was for me the highlight of the insight day. it really opened my eyes as to what kind of company M&G is and what they have to offer for individuals like myself.
