About You
I enjoyed every moment of it - so well planned and thought out. There was never a boring moment because there were so many different things to get through and I found it all so interesting.
I think the fact that we got to network with such a range of employees, including MDs, shows that they valued us enough to think we were worthy of their time!
The recruitment team were always present and happy to answer any questions at all you had. The events were all very structured. Everyone encouraged questions, and no question was ever deemed silly.
Won't help me in my degree as I am doing a non-finance degree subject, but would definitely help me in internships and future careers. For example, we completed workshops on soft skills that are applicable to all aspects of life.
The Company
It was really well structured. Very busy, but I'd much prefer a busy week to one with awkward hour long breaks.
Since JP don't convert to summer internships, the atmosphere was a lot less competitive than at other banks which meant that we all became really good friends and focused more on the learning and opportunities rather than just trying to convert to an internship.
The skill sessions were invaluable - genuinely upped my confidence a lot.
All it takes is quick google to find out the hours in IB are very long. The employees I asked were very honest about this which I really appreciated. Maybe if you got a couple recent grads to give a more informal account of their job so far, I think a lot of people would enjoy that.
Company culture was really emphasised in all different areas of the company. I came away knowing I would love to spend my career working for JP Morgan.
I came not knowing what an investment bank did and under the impression I wouldn't like it, but I left knowing 100% certain exactly what role I wanted within IBD. So very valuable.
Everything Else
They paid for my travel and hotel expenses - hotel wasn't anything fancy but clean and great location next to the DLR.
Yes - all levels from analyst to MD. I would've liked a bit more time with analysts.
Fun social event on the first night to help us get to know each other, I made some really good friends I hope to stay in touch with for life. Networking was great.
Yes, for example charity days. This wasn't as interesting for me.
100%, one of the best decisions I ever made was applying to this.
