About You
I enjoyed the week immensely. The company culture was great and so was the entire program. Fellow students and graduates we shadowed were also very friendly. The coordinators were helpful and ensured we all participated. Overall, an educational and enjoyable experience
There were 5 people within my division and we were further split into two smaller groups during work shadowing which meant that the group was the perfect size to garner individual attention. The company also provided us with allowances for meals and covered our stay and travel which definitely helped us to feel like they valued as they were investing a lot into us.
Sufficient guidance so that I never felt lost. Any questions I had regarding the programme, as well as the division I applied to were answered promptly. At the start of every day, we were told what would happen and where we needed to be. The coordinators provided us with their numbers in case we needed any additional guidance.
The insight week gave a good insight into the division we applied to and it certainly helped me decide whether I wanted to pursue a career in the field in the future. It also provided me with a good feel of the culture of the company and how it treats its employees. There were also talks regarding giving a pitch and other useful tips that I am certain I will use in the future
The Company
Well structured with plenty of talks and job shadowing. There was never any confusion regarding what was to be done and they clearly detailed out the programme in the programme pack provided at the start of the week.
Pleasant. The employees of the firm were very helpful and clarified any doubts or questions we had. The atmosphere was very friendly.
We only had talks on the first day that gave us tips on important skills like how to make a pitch and what to do during the week to maximise how much you learn. There were also plenty of group exercises. I would've liked more developmental workshops but due to the time constraint of being only a week long, it would've been difficult to squeeze more in without cutting something. They also gave us a good idea regarding the assessment centre that would happen during the week.
The week gave a pretty good insight into how it would be to work within the company full time. The graduates we were given to work-shadow gave us plenty of insight into how it would be to work in the company full time. They were ready to answer any questions regarding their work life.
Right from the start, you were able to notice the difference in company culture compared to other companies. They also talked about what made the company different from other banks and how the work-life balance was for the employees. They also talked about the multiple resources available for employees, giving us an insight into how the company prioritizes its employees. The insight week helped immensely in understanding the culture of the company.
Very valuable. We were able to shadow graduates and employees in different subdivisions of risk ( the division I applied to) and they showed us what they were working on and what skills were needed under each division. The job shadowing gave us a broad overview of the entire division
Everything Else
They covered for my travel as well as a hotel stay. Allowances were given for food.
A networking event would have helped to meet more employees of the firm as we only majorly had engagement with employees within the division we applied to during our work shadow sessions.
There were no networking or social events per se. But the work shadowing gave us the opportunity to network with people within the division that we applied to (risk in my case)
Yes. The graduates we work shadowed filled us in on the various activities that the company encourages the employees to participate in. There were multiple networks to engage in and also volunteering was heavily emphasised.
I would very much recommend this insight week to a friend to gain a good insight into not only the division but also the company and its people as well as the culture. I faced no problems at all and the insight definitely helped me decide whether I could see my career within the company and the division. The experience was very informational and enjoyable.
