The Role
I got challenged and I actually feel that my time here makes a difference to the business. Even though I'm an intern I feel equally important as my colleagues.
I felt extremely valued. GE allowed me to develop to the extend where I was appreciated by others, also senior management. I didn't feel any difference between how I get treated comparing to others.
My managers were always very supportive and knew what tasks they should assign to me in order to challenge me. The only problem, however, is that I was left without a supervisor for 4 months which is a lot when you're in the company only for 12 months.
Very, very, very busy! I wish I could do overtime to catch up with everything.
I had an equal responsibility to other team members. With time I built up trust among others so my responsibilities were increasing, especially when my manager left and replacement hasn't been found for 4 months. I had to step up and cover a lot of responsibilities.
I feel so much more prepared for my future job. Doing a placement year was the best decision! Now I know how my studies fit in real life and I understand why I had to learn particular stuff at university. Internship helped me to understand what skills I still have to work on.
The Company
Friendly and very open, I could talk to everyone about everything. Everyone here is very supportive and understanding.
Everything went well and smoothly apart from not having a manager for 4 months...
Company hasn't sent me on any trainings etc. however it is possible to undertake online courses such as Excel.

Opportunities are really good and for someone who did a placement it's much easier to get a graduate job in the future.
The Culture
Placement students were very well organized, we got company hoodies and there were many volunteering opportunities around.
Cheltenham is quite expensive. Renting a room costs approximately £400-450 per month. GE is outside the town so worth having a car however bus service is also available.
There are some clubs and bars, there is a university campus in the town center so typical student nightlife is available. I experienced better though!
Volunteering every week! Literally.
