About You
The insight was fantastic to learn about the financial markets and investment banking while networking with senior bankers. For the non-finance programme there were many educational sessions which did not require any previous knowledge. This allowed me to fully understand the fundamental working principles of markets and the relationships between investors and funds.
The group sessions allowed each individual to express opinions and views on the problem to solve. The presentation skills session was very useful to enhance our presence at the stage. I was impressed to learn that 57 % of the presentation is visual, menaing that this is the most valued by the audience.
I received guidance and support before and after the finance for non-finance sprin internship. The HR team was very helpful and was ansering very quickly to emails. During the programme the support received by the senior bankers was impressed. I really appreciated that students with a non-finance background are encouraged to apply.
The knowlegde I gained from the markets and investment banking educational sessions was invaluable. Learning about the basic difference between equity and bonds or going into the specific aspects of fixed-income securities was excellent. I also found very useful the personal branding and presentation sessions, the skills I developed will remain for the rest of my career.
The Company
The insight programme was very well structured, we were given a very detailed programme booklet with the complete schedule. I particularly appreciated that we were changed table every day in order to have the opportunity to meet as many people as possible. In this regard, every attendee was kind and intelligent.
The atmosphere was very stimulating: every attendee was very curious and wanted to make the most of this experience. Many questions were asked during the many planned sessions. I also enjoyed the JP Morgan atmosphere during the networking events, in the elevator or simply while eating at the bank canteen.
The firm invested a significant amount in training, something I really enjoyed coming from an engineering background. I chose this programme in particular to gain as much knowledge as possible on the financial markets and the JP Morgan industry groups in the investment banking division. The two sessions on personal branding and presentation skills were fantastic.
The networking events were a great opportunity to talk to employees in order to understand what it's like to work at JP Morgan. Potentially, adding a shadowing session would make this process easier and more involving. The senior networking lunch was an invaluable chance to talk to manging directors which is very rare.
Every presentation or activity involved or revealed a cultural aspect of the company since they were organised and run by current JP Morgan Analysts. In addition, the networking events were another opportunity to understand and ask about the culture in more detail. In general, any person emphasised the strong JP culture.
The insight proramme focus was to help us decide the particular division we may be interested in for a future career or summer internship. The presentations and networking events during the week were all very useful to make this decision. In particular, I found very useful the sector specific presentations.
