The Role
I really enjoyed my placement, the reason I scored it as 7 is because sometimes when I had to conduct menial or challenging work and it could be a struggle. However everything I did developed my skills
My team was very close and they felt like a family to me. I felt really valued at work and was making a real difference to the team.
I was given excellent support by my manager and even by senior management whenever I needed it. My mentors/supervisors were often busy and could not be there all the time to answer my questions; however this gave me the opportunity to become more independent and make my own decisions.
Work was often too little, and sometimes too much to handle.
I was given much more responsibility than I anticipated, I got to run and manage my own projects and lead teams.
The skills I have earn't have been so valuable to me in my search for a graduate job and in my final year studies
The Company
Very friendly and supportive atmosphere
The placements were organised by each line manager.
J&J invested a lot in training for me and went out of their way to get me involved in anything they felt would develop me further outside this.
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
Graduate opportunities were available however only two out of twenty five placements were offered in my year group. As far as I was aware the graduate opportunity was not that well organised, nor was the recruitment process.
The Culture
Placements often had socials
I lived in Maidenhead as opposed to London, this was a cheaper option and I did not find it bad value.
Nightlife in the near area was not good, however travel to Reading or London was possible.
There was not very many opportunities for me. However the the men had a football club that they attended.
