The Role
I enjoyed my placement simply due to the fact that I had so much freedom - I was able to dip my toe in all aspects of the business (sales, tech, operations and finance). I had a lot of opportunities which many interns don't get at other / different companies
My team rarely treated me like 'the intern'... I was given a lot of independence and could get involved in whatever projects I wanted - my team rarely said no. The only time was when the meetings were too IBM heavy - other than that, I was treated like a valued team member
So much honest feedback which has really helped to develop myself as an individual. I was reviewed 4 times throughout the placement (3 month, 6 month, 9 month, 12 month) which really allowed me to understand how I was doing - I was able to see consistent improvement due to this
It depends on the role - there were times when I was swamped with work and other times when I was inbetween projects that hadn't picked up yet so I didn't have much to do. It was up to me to keep myself busy and immerse myself - but there is only so much I was able to do
I was given tasks I had to do weekly, monthly and quarterly but in the rest of my free time, I had to take the initiative to fill up my days by getting involved in projects and doing external research for my client facing team - overall a fair bit
I was able to get SO much exposure to clients due to the nature of my role - this enabled me to develop my professionalism and understand how client meetings are actually run. I would like to pursue a sales role and being on a sales team gave me amazing experience
