About You
I loved it! I was so nervous before starting, but I shouldn't have been. You are not expected to know everything there is about every single department, you just need to be enthusiastic and be willing to work on anything you are asked to do.
Super valued. Everyone was very welcoming and they gave you actual work they were doing. Even if it was just a proofreading task, they explained the whole background of the deal, and sometimes you would even get updates after you had changed departments, just to let you know how the deal you had worked on was progressing.
A lot! Graduate recruitment was always there to help and you could ask trainees anything. Supervisors were also very welcoming, and everyone took their time to explain to you anything you wanted.
I already knew I wanted to pursue a career in law but this convinced me even more if that was possible. It allowed me to see what I would be doing at the firm as a solicitor and I loved it!
The Company
The first day they gave us our timetable for the next 2 weeks, and everything was set up as well on the calendars of our laptops. It was a great balance of activities, because it allowed you to go to extra events that popped up and still get on with work.
Everyone was lovely and helpful, they were very welcoming of vac schemers.
A lot! They gave us a lot of training on IT, the Library, each department's main tasks. I felt very valued during the vac scheme, the firm clearly values vac schemers.
It helped me understand what I would be doing as a trainee at the firm yes. It was great to talk to trainees, and listen to what they were doing and seeing how valued they were among their teams.
I already knew the firm was very friendly and approachable, but absolutely everyone at the firm is like that. You wouldn't think it is possible, but it is! It is a great place to work at.
Very valuable. They were happy to answer any questions we may have, and they all told us to keep in contact and let us know if we have any further questions.
Everything Else
Yes, the firm pays you for the vac scheme, so that's great.
Yes, lots! There were lots of socials and you could also talk to people within the department. Departments also had weekly drinks and such and we were invited along, which shows how valued vac schemers are.
They were great. You were able to meet people from trainees to partners, and it was great to talk to them in an informal setting.
Yes, we had a pro bono and CSR talks. They were very interesting and the people that led the talks were clearly very passionate about their work, and it drew you to participate in their activities.
Absolutely! You will have a great time here and learn so much. You don't want to miss this opportunity.
