About You
I really enjoyed this scheme - it provided me with a useful insight towards the way an international law firm works. We had talks from various sectors including Corporate, Tax and HR. I really enjoyed the negotiation and CV workshops.
Everyone at the firm made me feel very welcome including all the partners and trainees I spoke with after the talks.
We were given lots of support with regard to developing new skills such as teamwork and negotiation during certain workshops and tasks. Meanwhile, we were given valuable guidance on seeking jobs in the future through developing our CV.
The skills acquired throughout this scheme will definitely carry on through my life as its helped me become more aware of what large, international law firms want.
The Company
The insight scheme was very well structured - there were no delays with talks or events hosted and the recruitment team ensured there was enough time allocated for socialising and eating.
The atmosphere was brilliant - everyone was very keen to meet each other and learn about DLA. There was a very social atmosphere from start to finish of the insight scheme.
The company invested a lot of time and money by bringing out very senior and interesting partners.
Although it will be hard to get a full taste of life in a law firm as an unqualified law student, events such as the negotiation workshop gave a very useful insight towards the operations of the corporate department.
Just by speaking to trainees and partners and listening to them talk about the firm, I was able to conclude very quickly that the firm has a very collegiate atmosphere and culture.
The content throughout each day was very useful as time was allocated to show us the workings of different departments to show us what we may be interested in.
Everything Else
I met plenty of employees at different levels throughout my time staying on the firm's insight scheme.
A lot of time was allocated to ensure we could speak to not only the employees, but the other insight scheme students. It would have been nice to have some more events in the evening organised for people on the insight scheme.
There as a variety of CSR and activities outside of work which were explored throughout the scheme.
