The Role
I fully enjoyed my internship. I got really lucky with my team and my department in general. I was working in the Launch Co-ordination department which is responsible for introducing new content to the factory. With new products there also come a lot of new challenges which made this internship very interesting.
I felt as a full part of my department. No matter if it was down to an associate or a manager I felt as an equal part of the company and the department in general. You could really say it felt a bit like a family.
That was one of the points I loved the most about my team: no matter how dumb my question was (or if I had already asked it the week before) I always got an adequate answer which definetly helped me developing and carrying out my job as good as I could.
I'm the kind of guy that hates not having anything to do so in case I didn't have a lot to do I either asked my managers for new tasks or I tried to do something that will help the department later on. Therefore I was pretty much always busy.
I got as much responsiblity as I needed to. As an intern I wouldn't give myself too much responsibility in general but in this placement I got to work together with a lot of people on e.g. confidential topics which made me feel a lot more responsible than a lot of other interns that I got to know (in private but also in the company).
I think I learned a lot for my future working life. I got a lot to do with the new flow and I think later on I want to work in the same/similar department as I did during my internship and therefore my experiences that I already gained will help me a lot with that.
The Company
As open space offices get more and more popular (and as I'm not a big fan of them) I was realy glad to get into an office which wasn't as big as others. Therefore I was able to be productive but also had (enough) people to have fun with and to make jokes. Also in my office there were two other interns which was really nice to communicate and to help each other with the new experiences/challenges.
As I was the first intern of the department in general there was still a lot of stuff to do until I was a fully working part of the department. After that integration period it got good and better and better so I think it will be set up really good for future placements.
I got to travel to Munich to visit the BMW plant (FIZ) which helped me to develop. Also I was able to take part in a training regarding product quality to develop my skills.

I may try to return to the company and try to get a job after my studies. I felt very welcomed and as a productive part of the company which I would love to enlarge in the future.
The Culture
There was a very good social scene among a lot of students. As pretty much everyone was new to the city (and of course the placement) you got to know a lot of people which will probably be friends until the end of your lifes and which you will probably also visit in other cities or even countries.
Chichester was pretty expensive for a small town as it is. Still the salary is enough to go out for drinks or partying in general. At the beginning it seems a lot of money (especially when you come from a small town in a different country) but in the end you're getting used to it.
There are 2-3 pubs which work as some kind of clubs which can get boring after a while but it's better than nothing. Also it's not too far away from Portsmouth (20-30 minutes) or Brighton or also London so if you'd like to have a long strong night out you can go to a big town nearby.
There were some but not too many. You were able to go bowling for example. Also close to work there's the Goodwood Motor Circuit in which you can sometimes find cool events. Also there will be a lot more over the summer so there will be a lot of social activites available.
