The Role
I loved the placement. I really enjoyed coming to work everyday and i really felt that i had a place in the work community. I had varied tasks which made each day go quickly, some days i would be shocked that it was already lunch time and i hadn't even noticed how fast the day was going.
I felt extremely valued working in the Disney Destinations team. We did regular social things, during work or after work which made me feel as if i was properly one of the team. They also gave me responsibility which made me valued and as if i was respected to do my job.
I was given a lot of support by my managers and supervisors, however they were great at also knowing when you were capable to the role and could be left to do it on your own. We also had regular one-to-ones to dicuss my progress and giving us an opportunity to discuss other issues or queries.
Yes i was busy on a daily basis. Some days were of course more busy, for example when a promotion was close to going live or i had urgent requests or issues. However even on less busy days, i still had a number of daily tasks i had to get done.
I was given a lot of responsibilty during my replacement. I managed all of the winner management, as well as all of the owned media (synergy across brands). I was also allowed to lead various partnerships to promote events happening at Disneyland Paris, for example i lead a print promotion with Attitude magazine which involved data capture, social, online, competition and print.
I believe my skills have hugely benefited since doing my placement at Disney. My attention to detail has improved significantly as a result of leading winner management where i have to book winners prizes. I have also learnt smaller skills, such as how to use outlook effectively and efficiently and how to respond properly to emails.
The Company
The general atmosphere of the office was really postive, i remember i was surprised at how happy everyone was every day even though they were at work. Nothing was ever to much trouble for anyone and people were always happy to chat and answer questions that you may have. It was a really happy place.
The internship was really well organised. It starts with an assessment centre day which the current interns help organise so that they can give reccomendations from the previous year and what they experienced. The internship is then monitored and progress is reviewed during each three months at the company and in the role.
The Walt Disney Company invests a lot of time and money into both their interns and their permanent staff. There are always loads of courses and talks that are available to develop your further learning, such as first aid courses. Managers are also really keen for their interns to sit in on meetings just for general experience.

Future employment prospects are good within the organisation however it is not guranteed and is based on if there are jobs available. However, that being said you are much more likley to be considered for future roles if you have the relevant experience and have worked in the company before. In our department their were quite a few past interns.
The Culture
There was a great social scene amongst all of the department, as well as amongst the current interns. I had a great relationship with the interns in my department (night outs, and even went on holiday with one) and amongst the wider company interns, for example the interns arrange a 'wintern ball' where everyone meet up and get to know each other.
The cost of living and socialising in and around Hammersmith was fairly good, especially consideirng it is a London based location. We also recieved a lot of discounts for restaiurants and bars such as Nando's and Bar Burrito through working at The Walt Disney Company which brought the cost down considerably.
The nightlife in the Hammersmith area is OK. There are a few bars and nice restaurants around such as Be At One and Pergola. However, for more clubs and bars it is only a few stops on the tube until you reach Leicester Square and Convent Garden where we would often go.
There were loads of opportunities to get involved with outside of work in both the wider company and in our department. In the wider company their were many volunteering opportunities and in the deperamtent their were Netball teams and triathlon teams as well as many others which gave people the opportunity to socialise.
