    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed the insight during my time at Fidelity. The employees and people were all very friendly and welcoming, encouraging you to ask questions and learn about the industry and the company. Throughout the week, I gained a great insight into Investment Management and the opportunities to network with seniors and also get hands on experience through an Equity Research project were extremely valuable.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • The tasks we were given really made you feel like you were part of the culture and community of Fidelity. We were well informed of the opportunities you had to join inclusive networks, e.g. the women's network, the LGBT network and this created an inclusive environment. During the time, I felt very confident in asking questions to analysts and senior members of the team and they really helped me to develop my knowledge.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • The week was well structured and the HR team were always at hand if you had any questions or queries; this allowed us to always have a person to fall back on if needed. The HR team provided us with a lot of material to learn about the company and the professionals we could ask questions from were very helpful.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • During the week, I learnt so much about Investment Management. I learnt the structure of the business, how they made money and the different roles you could join. In terms of skills, it allowed me to develop my analytical eye and learn to network with people from all backgrounds. This therefore helped me increase in confidence and develop my teamwork skills.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was very well structured; with a timetable provided at the beginning of each day. Every day you also had a chance to network with your colleagues after work and the evenings were kept free. The days started at 9am and breakfast and lunch was also provided, with each day finishing at around 4:30pm.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Every person I met during the insight was super friendly and always willing to talk to you. The culture of Fidelity is very collaborative and the people there are friendly and able to enjoy their work through this. Fidelity had such a community like environment and all of the staff were inclusive; happy to share their experiences but also willing to share their knowledge of the industry and other companies. I thoroughly enjoyed the week and hope to be back soon.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The highlight of the week was taking part in an Equity Research project, which was run by an Equity Research analyst and the Equity Research director also came along to review our stock pitches. I think that this experience was invaluable as it gave us a true insight into what a normal day would be like at Fidelity.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • 3/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Fidelity is so inclusive and the general conclusion I got was that the people that work there really love their job. From the week, we learnt that Fidelity was adaptable to your needs, for example, they have now introduced a day every week where you can work from home. This proved to me that despite being so profitable, Fidelity was a dynamic environment which catered for everybody.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Fidelity provided those from outside of London travel reimbursed expenses. They also provided accommodation which was just a 5 minute walk from Cannon Street, which was very handy if you are not from the area. The accommodation provided was a shared flat with somebody else on the Spring Week which allowed you to get to know someone before you started.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • 3/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • 3/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • 3/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Fidelity had a well-structured Spring Week, with opportunities to network with fellow insight students, junior analysts and senior employees. We even got the opportunity to meet with the CEO, which started the week well and gave you the impression that everyone at Fidelity worked for everyone. The experience I gained was brilliant; I gained a true insight into Investment Management and also learnt that Fidelity was a great company with a fantastic ethos.
